Hello there ive just signed onto this forum, as ive just got myself a (standard model) clio 182 2005, To use for occasional track days
I did my first car trackday at blyton park on 23rd feb, An really liked it, just need to sort it out a little bit so that it handles a little better ie:

I would be so grateful for all your opinions, thanks

What's the budget?

i could advise you on some nice bits, but depends if you really want to blow close on £2000 for suspension?
an ideal starting point would be to renew all bushes, mounts, steering arms and end joints etc.

Like i say only bought it to use occasionally on track so dont wanna spend loads

Scan over ebay for suspension just need to know what suspension to buy

Remember Im from yorkshire, So people may say.. Im a tight git - I say.. Im just careful!

Coilovers for a decent set you're looking 5-600+ (Spax at the cheaper but decent end), or perhaps £300-500 (can't remember price) for Cooksport Springs + Koni Dampers.

Brakes from G172 on here (you'll need to pay up - but I should imagine buying discs and pads at his prices will mean the membership pays for itself) - I guess Brembo High carbon discs + DS2500's (Ferodo). Watch for the Ferodo ones as I believe they do 2 different fitments for Clio - 1 set fits, other set needs sanding down - plus G172 will know which you need and beat any price I've seen anyway.

Tyres - depends if you want full track-focused tyres or normal? Toyo R1R's are meant to be pretty decent I hear.

Wheels - 15" meant to be better for handling, and certainly cheaper tyres by a long shot compared to 16".

G172 for brakes

Talks sense and doesnt advise based on profit - he talked me out of the more expensive discs infact

Stainless brake hoses and decent fluid is a good shout.

DS2500 pads are a good blend for road/track driving.

I found Koni springs and adjustable shocks good on my old 172 many moons ago.

Toyos T1R tyres are quite good in various conditions for the price, though I prefer Michelin Pilot Sports, but they are much more expensive and while you want lots of grip on track, you are chewing up tyres quickly at the same time. You pay your money, you take your choice. I'd rather be a couple of seconds slower on a track and pay half the price for the rubber as I'll be having just as much fun either way.

Picking up a cheap set of 15" wheels and some part worn slicks is an option if you have the facility to get them to and from your track days.
