What to look for when buying 182cup

  RB 182 FF cup pack
hey people!

Looking at a 182cup tomoz it's on a 54plate and covered 19,000mls and i'm wondering what sort of common problems i should be checking for when looking over the car? Can anyone give me some tips? Cheers

I have had my 182 cup for 6 months now. Just check all the electrics work, play with all the buttons!!! (including cruise control, etc)

Then take it for a test drive for at least 30 mins. Test the clutch after, mine was really sticky/ grindy!

On 19k miles you shouldnt have any problems really. Check the exhaust mounts and heat shield as these have a tendancy to rattle. Ummm think thats it.

You may also have problems with the front suspension struts. They creak when turning the car on full lock in most 182s.

OH and if you pay £5, you become a full member with access to the guides section!

This has loads of info on common faults and specs, etc. :)

Yes its in racing blue with the basic cloths seats so must be a cup, how do you know whether it's an import or not?

Imports dont have alarms (check for a red LED on the left of the gear stick) and they dont have the security numbers etched into the windows.

In the process of becoming a member but not one yet, so cant yet use the cliosport guides with is a bit of a s**t.

No locking nuts either.

If you want to check for faults stored by the car turn the key so the electrics are on then hold the button down on the end of the wiper stalk, will tell you faults stored by the car and other stuff.

ok no alarm and no vin numbers on window got that, was thinking of getting 172cup originally but wanted something a little newer! Is there much differance in perfromance?

Nope there is nothing in between any of the RS's really. I'm sure the 172 cup owners will be along to slate the fact that 182 cups arent "proper" cups though as 172 cups are a lot more stripped (no ABS, no air con, etc) but when it comes down to it there is nothing in it!

Yeah was a little worried bout the lack of ABS in 172cup, anyway if this 182 is as good as stated then i,m sure be interested thanks for all the help chaps!
