What's causing this knocking noise - coilover springs?? Please advise...

I have a severe knocking noise coming from drivers side front, in and around the wheel arch area, above the tyre..

Happening mostly along bumpy lane roads at lower speeds..

Ive got new, but budget, coilovers on at the moment whilst the bilsteins are getting refurbished... My mechanic and myself simply can't find what it is but it is getting worse....

Can anyone advise on what this could be...

Not a mechanic myself but did you check to see if that spring has snapped? I'm guessing you've already checked this but worth a try.

Well when we looked over it everything seemed sound, wouldn't there be a complete fail if the spring snapped? its been knocking for over a week now.....

Not necessarily, maybe partly snapped, happened to me.

And did it make a knocking noise with yours, how long did you drive it before finding out?
