Whats the air vent called on vibe subs ?

In most vibe sub boxes there is a hole in normally the corner of the box to let the air out ( i think). I was just wondering what its called as im after just 1 of these to install in my boot build and didnt know what to type into good old ebay.

It's a port but you need the correct length/width to tune the box correctly.

yeh thats the one. I have done my build so bacially it will sit into a sheet of MDF, im now guessing i cnt just drill a hole in the MDF and place it in that ?

he has said it. it will do nothing by buying one and whacking it on a box.
it has to be tuned and calculated at the right size and length proportional to you box size.

ok, has anyone got any suggestions on what i could do instead then ? as it rattles like mad at the min n i wud guess gets quite hot. its not a box btw basically its just a sheet off MDF that is the size of my boot. ive just built exactly the same.

what do you want a port for?

have you not put the sub in a box?

for ventilation over the amp you could just drill holes over the wood and then carpet over it and it should be ok.

yeh its boxed, exactly the same as laura's. Ive cut a hole out exactly same as she has above the sub and wanted the fit some perspect glass but ive done it a couple of time but the vibration is just to much and makes the glass losse and therefore rattle like mad

on mine i have a whole above the amp and the sub.

the sub hole will be covered with a grill of some sort and the amp hole will have perspex plastic over it which has ventilation holes.

all made up should be trimming it this weekend and my install will finally be complete!

ill keep an eye out then for a furture post mines all up and running i just need to solve this big hole i now have above my sub. Some sort of grill sounds a good idea. ill see if i can get any ideas of u when you finish :rasp: thanks anyway pal

As you don't know what a port is. I STRONGLY advise you don't go ported. Just don't put any holes in the box containing the sub and make it as tight as possible (few leaking places as is physically ammendable)
