Whats the best option..?

  Mk2 ph1 clio
Im looking to buy a clio sport early next year by then i'll be 21 with 3 years no claims, possibly 4.

I should have around 5-6k to spend and im looking for some ideas on the best model to get within that price range.

I like the Mk sports best if im honest, theres a few knocking about near me, so idealy i'd like to go for one of those..

Cany anyone shed some light onto the best models/spec to go for? would be greatly appreciated!

Barry.

Thats what I thought! Thanks guys.

The insurance should be fine, I have import/modified insurance which was cheaper compared to every other insurer by £300 at least.

Anything I should be careful about when i look to buy one? Common faults that I should look out for?

  Clio 172 mk2
Insurance will probably be the main problem but if you avoid the cup it may not be too bad.

if the 172 has done 72k or is 5 years old make sure the cambelt has been replaced and the aux belt. if not get the cost of the car reduced.

Will do, I bought my clio i have atm with 67k on and the timimg belt "had!" been cganged (Its S reg) 2 weeks later it snapped.. spent 3 nights in the freezing cold putting it right  !

Any other things i should look for on sports thats common?

when looking at 172 make sure there are no leaks under the car or in engine bay as i've heard clios can have problems like that. I've heard on here that the exhaust system often goes around 30k so check its not to badly rusted.

Cheers, Spent most my time in garages working on pugs and citroens.. Don't know a great deal about clios tbh.

Been reading around and there seems to be some nasty electrical problems with them! Sounds like it should be fun spotting those when buying a car :headno:
