Wheel Arch Problems....

Hi Guys/Girls.
My wheel arch liner had come loose and was scraping along the floor for a few miles and when i stopped it was a big mess so i decided to cut it away and leave this...

My question is... am i alright with the arch like this? Remember there is a lot of sand here and i'm just a little worried that its going to get everywhere aswell as water when i wash the car etc. What is the belt in the pic? Its going in for service soon,so i'll get it replaced then hopefully if they have an arch liner in.

There is meant to be a cover (felt/carpet kinda material) which sits behind there around the aux belt and lower pulley.

I'd cover it if the AUX belt fails its usually expensive as it takes out the cambelt at the same time.
Then again my cars been like that for ages without issue.

Ok,well panic over, never rains so not worried about water, just worried about the tiny sand grains that literally find their way to everywhere!
