bearing is about £35

it'll take you 30min to get the drum off

take it down to a garage and get them to press out the old, press in the new (£10ish)

30min to wack it back on

  172 cup'd extreme
The bearing is pressed onto the drum, buy a bearing about £30 take the drum off (30mm bolt) then take the drum to a garage ask them to take the old one off and press the new one in they will charge you £20 max refit the drum jobs a good un

If its gone it will be whirring/rumbling. I managed to change mine myself, I got a bearing kit for £20 which includes the bearing, a new 30mm locknut and a circlip to hold it in. To change it you need to remove the drum by undoing the 30mm locknut (it can be a b**ch to get off). Then take the drum off and remove the circlip, then you have to press the old bearing out the drum (can also be a b**ch). Try resting the 30mm socket on the bearing and hitting it with a wooden mallet or something harder. You may have to take the drum to a mechaninc to press it out if you cant do it. When its out press the new bearing in (put a little high melting grease around the bearing) refit with new circlip and new nut.

Hard to say tbh, it could get very hot and solder itself into your drum. When mine was rumbling I was always worried my wheel would eventually fall off, i did a couple of trips to work and back before I got round to changing it.
