Wheel bearings???

Hi all, quick question. How do you know if wheel bearings are goin? I can hear a slight whining noise but only at around 50mph!
Any ideas?

It starts as a whining noise then turns deafening after a while, I got mine changed for MOT, I used to turn up the music and ignore the wheel bearing sound!

Not to sure how much a garage would charge but I paid £32 for the bearing and a couple of quid for a new nut to be on the safe side.

Whole job only took about an hour and a half, plus 20mins to heat up the oven, lol.
