Wheel Nuts VS. Studs

I guess if your running spacers (non hub-centric) it makes it easier to fit the wheels with spacers.

And quicker to change, i might change mine to studs at some point as my locking wheel nut doesnt fit with spacers.

I bought a set of these of an ebay shop called m tec, 37.00 delivery and the studs and nuts look good quality

Just in the process of changing mine today, take a look at my project thread and after today you will see what I'm using with loads of pics :)

I don't see why you would do it unless your car is super unreliable or a track car. Seems like a lot of hassle for little gain.

I wouldnt say it's hassle, it's taken me 20 mins. Just waiting for loctite to harden before putting wheels on though

I think you explained the benefits to me in the last thread on this when I couldn;'t understand.

Then I relaised what car you own..

<3 you Arab sandal!

I agree with Gally. £35 is a bit steep for the average joe to help him change his wheels quicker. I understand the use if you're using spacers or whipping the wheels off very often (track use etc.).

Do these kits come with a locking wheel nut? Seems a bit much just for road/everyday however they do look good on jap cars.

So all your using is loctite?

Good luck if anyone uses a windy gun they will proberly come out. Waste of time imo.

Or if anyone at a tyre place does them up with an air gun then when you next come to take them out the stud will proberly come out.

My advice to you dont over tighten them.

obviously the Clio is bolts, but my new Focus is nuts. Had the wheels off several times and TBH doesn't make a blind bit of difference, only unless your not strong enough to hold the wheel against the hub to put a bolt in.

Can't see the point in paying to change for the sake of change. These kits aren't going to be as good as if done in the factory so I wouldn't fancy trusting some locktite and mass produced threaded bolt

just fitted my rear bolts, just went for a drive and all seems fine, loads of loctite in holes and left for 2/3 hours to harden

loads easier putting wheels on with non hubcentric spacers

Ive had issues with the nuts coming undone when used in anger on the ebay/RD ones, so I swapped to harry hockley studs instead of the cheapy rally designs type ones, 3 times the price but never had a problem again since.

The hockley ones have a flange that butts up against the hub so you can tighten them upto it better, they have a wider section that the wheel locates on more positively and they have a lead on them to allow the nuts to go on better.

Only worth doing if you are going to be running slicks or really trying hard on semi slicks though.

Edit, found an image of the hockley ones:
