wheel spacers; do i need hubcentric??

theyre alot more expensive, but i dont mind spending the money if i have too.

i know that they stop wheel wobble at higher speeds, but lets be honest, 85 isnt incredibly fast, and thats as fast as i go in my wee 1.2

Depends how large you need doesn't it? 3-5mm probably no need.

Got 2 pairs of 5mm spacers.

The unused set has been promised to another CS'er but I may take the ones off my car if you want them, as I don't think I really need them. Been used for about 2 weeks tops lol

I presume u arent goin nuts and only need say 5mm for 172 alloys or something and halfords are probably the dearest place u could go for cleaning stuff aswell!!

no i wanna go quite wide and low, fks are on their way, so was thinking of doing about 15-20mm

thanks for the offer gumby mate, but could do with a bit more matey.

I'd like 15-20 mm on mine but I'll be going faster in a straight line and round bends, possibly track than 85. Are there any restrictions with these on how hard you can drive with them on?

20mm needs to be hubcentric.. i had mine just universal and they were terrible... and dangerous... got mine to match my sport wings from here

give them a call..

What size were yours Josh and in what way were they dangerous? I'm thinking of 7mm all round on my 172 but without extended bolts etc. if possible.

Maybe that's why I haven't seen your old bus around lately, the scally owner has probably ditched it.

P.S. the spacers on that site, do they fit the hub exactly or are they still way off?

yeh i had universals to begin with and they go off centre while driving as there is nothing to keep them in the centre of the hub other than bolt tension... so you would be driving along a smooth road.. then the gear stick and steering wheel would vibrate like mad... then sometimes wouldn't.... you can get away with universal if they don't stick out as much as the hub centre as your wheel will still locate onto this.....

i ran 25mm hubcentric... they are a really good design... 4 shallow headed bolts that hold the spacer to the car and your normal bolts that bolt the wheel to the spacer.... really good setup...
Tbh i would recommend extended bolts for anything over 5mm.... for the relatively small extra cost its peace of mind that your wheel isn't going to fall off on the motorway...

I dont get how you can have 20mm spacers. My 9,.5 spacers wouldnt fit on the hub aswel as the wheel?

becuase the hubcentric ones fit over the centre of the hub then have their own hub centre for the wheel to fit over.... the non hubcentric (big ones) just don't allow the wheel to fit over the hub centre and need longer bolts... meaning you can never get the wheel central... tbh i don't know how theyre allowed to sell large ones as theyre totally dangerous and no car would have hub centres that stick out far enough to accomodate them safely..
