WHEEL SPACERS & LOWERING

  Arctic Clio 182 FF
Hi,

Im not particularly technical minded so was wondering if anyone can answer my questions, im going to buy a 197 and wanna do a few things to it:

First one is does the lowering affect your warranty?

How do you fit spacers (is it simple) and does that affect warranty?

If I was to buy H&R lowering kit (40mm) is it possible to then fit 18's to the car if Im using spacers aswell? Or will it rub the arch?

Any info or comments welcome- except for those who'll say DON'T BUY A 197!

Ta.

Spacers are a deffo DIY job.

If you can apply double sided tape and can replace a wheel you'll be fine with that.

Are they expensive or a couple of quid?

Should i remove them for a service or does it make no difference?

Hi,

First one is does the lowering affect your warranty?.........................yes.all suspension warranty will be affected.

How do you fit spacers (is it simple) and does that affect warranty?.........very easy to fit.remove wheel, bolt spacer to hub, bolt wheel back onto spacer...job done.they would affect probably the wheel bearings warranty but so whould fitting 18".

If I was to buy H&R lowering kit (40mm) is it possible to then fit 18's to the car if Im using spacers aswell? Or will it rub the arch?.......................H&R kit is 40mm rear and 30mm front and as long as you go lower profile tyre to match the 18" to keep the turn radius the same you would be ok.

Any info or comments welcome- except for those who'll say DON'T BUY A 197!..............................BUY A 197.

The dealership trying to refuse to do the work for free have to prove the cliam is due to the mod I woulnd't worry at all most dealers don't care since the partys can fail anyway so the mods would be difficul to blame and therefore the dealership not get paid by Renault uk.

I had a 1.2 Dynamique before and had that lowered and changed wheels under warranty but that didn't make a difference so assume it wouldn't but with newer models you never know.

On the insurance front, Im 28 got around 4 years no claims plus a 65% discount which makes it equivalent to 7 years- how much would I pay for a 197?? My 1.2 was 430ish..... any ideas??? Only do 10,000 or less.
