wheel studs snapped!

  03 RS clio 172 flameR
brought me mrs her first car th other day, its only a 106 but had alloys on and it needed some work doing so id come to take th wheels off and the studs wher uber stiff, in the end 2 of them actually snapped they wer that coroded, anyway, so im left with two half studs stuck in now, i am going to take the disk off so that i have some thead sticking out and file it down so i have to flat sides and then wack a big spanner on it! or if that fails me i will have to drill the bitches out!

so my question is, anyone got any better ideas than introducing them to my friend mr bosch!

cheers people

ha welder!, not sure till i take the disk off how much is sticking out! but who ever the muppet was who put the wheels on needs brain sergery! i could not belive the tention on them! im praying for atleast 8-10 mm sticking out after th disk comes off, coz that will be anough to get th big ajusti spanner on it. plus the fileing is goin to be a ball ache! in the 2 years i worked as a mechanic iv never seen wheel bolts that tight! only problem with drilling is trying to keep the thread it tact!

i will try a drill bit half the size of the thead, then work my way up the sizes and hope the bolt splits!

I know you said your a mechanic but as a tip you should try spraying some duck oil onto them trying to get as much into the thread as possible and letting them soak for a few hours then give it a crack then

i have all the studs out now but 2 of them are snapped so i have no leverage on them without creating a flat side with a file then wacking th spanner or it, (or drill :dead:)

but never heard of using duck oil before, had some s**t used on cows nipples during the milking stage (hahah dont ask) and that stuff was crazy but i usually just use good old WD40 but thanks for the tip anyway mate.

OOO DEAR!!
so i get to the car today armed with a huge set of stilsons ready to operate on its ass and find that what i remembered of the size of th stud sticking out, wasnt really 100% so now im faced with drilling it which isnt going to work, so im just going to get a whole new upright and hub from the scrappy coz im a lazy b*****d and im sick of the s**t pug now. amen

if you have snapped a wheel stud then it should either knock out the back of the hub or it should just unscrew from the hub but if its a wheel bolt then i would have thought it shouldnt be to much of a problem to unscrew it out if it is a wheel bolt thats stuck in then id say the hub thread is probably mashed to ive had one go on me before they are made of cheese

i jus call bolts studs, pins whatever, i know correctlly studs are coming out of the back of the hub and the wheel is held on with nuts but yes, the bolts snapped off and only about 2mm is showing out of the hub, so time to rip out the upright and get a scrap yard job on the go

could use a easy out, but tbh th bolt head snapped off with a 17mm socket on, so reducing the width down to say a 12mm will proboblly not work, could weld a pipe on to it and then crank it, but dont have working welder, and for the hassel, i will probobly jus rip out the upright and replace the b**ch! 106 parts are 10 a penny.
