When is a damper, not a damper

When you wander into your local Renault parts department, ask for a damper for a 2000 Clio Sport, to be asked weres it go! Took a few minutes of explaining before a lightbulb appears over his head and he says, oh you mean a shock absorber. Now I remember why my cars never visited a dealer.

There the same as fitted to the Mk2 172s the Cups are different though.

I posted the part number for the Cup bits if you wantt to do a Cup spec Mk1 172 in the wanted thread the other day.

Yeah cheers edde, im just replacing the one so i can sell the car mate so not worth me changing to MUG spec.

Its passenger side rear thats gone on mine an all Smokey! Gonna try fitting it today. Id have been tempted to replace all four with Cup dampers but Im skint at moment with it being xmas, I assume Cup front suspension is a straight fit as well? Does it matter that the mk1 doesnt have the same camber and different offset?

They should only be replaced in pairs.

The different camber can be make to you suspension as for the offfset well some spacers will fix that.

The fornt suspension is more difficult but its not masive problem.

There a guide on the front page how to change springs if you look at it youll see how to change dampers.

Cup suspension is just the different camber etc setup (which can be setup on the car), different dampers front and rear and the different offset.
