Which handbrake cable is which?

Now I've got them off I've noticed the old offside cable is actually a fraction shorter than the new one I'm about to put on! Was not expecting that! The nearside is a little stretched though. The renault tag is still on the old offside and I can read it says 82002282xx so they can't have fitted the wrong one.
Not sure what's going on but explains why I was having problems with the offside handbrake sticking on a bit while the nearside was barely working.
