Which Induction Kit Is The Best for a 182???

  RenaultSport clio 182 mk2
I've been looking at induction kits for my 182 and am not sure which 1 to get. I've been told by many ppl that the pipercross viper kit is the best for the 182 then my mate told me 2day that the BMC kit would be best :S . So can some that maybe has either let me know which is best.

Or is buying a new panel filter a better option???

Cheers, Jaff :S

If you don't have plans to do further mods, no point getting an IK. Unless you want the noise. Just get a panel filter.

If you have some cash and you are planning on modding, you can't go past the ITG maxogen. It's not cheap though, around 300 pounds....

I have a viper and it sounds fab now its sorted...

Car drinks loads of petrol since I fitted it though :(

I think the best one is the Maxogen Carbon air box style filter - but as above for simple easier-breathing an ITG panel filter is a must.

ITG Panel - best value
Viper / BMC CDA - best noise value (and won't lose power)
ITG Maxogen - best power

To add my own opinion, the viper is unlikely to gain more power than a CDA, and the CDA is about £70 cheaper usually.

I was thinkin of gettin a exhaust as well just to make the car abit more beffy. I'll think i'll go for the panel 1 for now untill i get some money 2getha for a decent exhaust. Thanx for the help guys :D

The PiperX panel is even better value than the ITG at about £5 less. £31.34 on Motorsportworld but John2modified will probably be even cheaper.

the maxogen is the bad boy especially if your going to mod further in the future, once you start its very hard to stop lol

As soon as I'd put it on I wanted to take it off. lol. I was worried incase it left a orrible mark on it.

It does look better all carbony. Some of the kits I've seen have the ITG logo embossed in the carbon, but mines just plain.

Apologies to keep harpin on about this but i decided to ask BB Performance about their kit...i.e its a cone style filter, so i asked about the cause of hot air getting into the air intake...heres the reply if your interested....

"Dan,

the hot air scenerio is one that gets asked many times.

To put your mind at ease, we have carried out tests, been to independant dyno's and seen cars with other filters on (namely the £200 - £300 carbon box type) and to this day have seen the best results from open air induction kits on these and a number of other vehicles.

When the car is on the move the air flow through the front of the vehicle is drastically increased, more so at high speeds.

In simple terms would you really utualise any form of performance air filter at 20-30mph? simple answer is no.

I hope this answers any quetsions you may have, if not, feel free to give me a call."

At 80 odd quid the price is good.

Cheers all,
Dan

i like their argument, but it its floored. My enigine bay gets to its hottest sitting in traffic, now when i reach the island i'm queing to reach, i want to be able to pull out quickly to insure i get accross without being rammed in the side, so the last thing i want is an open induction kit sucking in that hot air in the engine bay and making my acceleration sluggish. They are quite right that in an open run, an open induction probably will be fine, but not when it comes to day to day use.

and to think, some people think i know nothing about tuning :)

Is it worth getting a carbon box then? The BMC CDA is reasonable at 180 quid delivered but i'm not sure on the whole carbon box thing being a placebo? And the BBPT kit is only 80 quid!! I do like the look of the look of the cones with the heat sheild, like yours bartebk, so i think i'm gonna go down this route. I might investigate a little more into the actual heat sheild? Ta
