which offset for a 60mm drop

  CLIO 172 02
hey peeps, this is doin my head in now, ive got a 172 2002 and seen some 17" alloys i want which either come in a 35/42 offset but i got 60mm springs waiting to be put on aswell. The guy at the wheel shop says i could maybe go for the 42 offset and fit 3mm spacers to take them to 39 offset. Will i get away with this because its near a 38offset and thats ok ive heard on a 60mmdrop, please help....cheers. Or do i keep my 40mm springs on and get the 35offset.

What springs you on now and what springs are you getting to drop your 172 60mm?

Unless your getting coilovers springs that lower that much on the standard shocks is going to ruin the cars handling!!

Yep, big drop springs and bigger wheels are going to ruin the car IMO.

ET35 will probably rub if you have people in the back but i reckon you would get away with it...will look a lot better than ET42. Spacers aren't recommended.

ET38's should be fine, mate of mine on here had done it with no rubbing, if it does get the angle grinder out!

as above, i really dont see the point in buying a 172, sticking springs and 17 inch wheels on it, will ruin the drive of the car. You'll also need to replace your shocks soon depending on the quality of the spring as they always fook as the springs arent suited to the standard shockers. If you can afford to own and run a 172, save up the extra and get a decent set of suspension, at least a kit it'll be worth it :)

as above try to avoid spacers if poss, et 38 should be fine, but pleassse dont do it

Id go with a 42...Mine's a 45 offset and dropped 60mm...fits like a gloe and no rubbing...
