Croft is a good track, couple of nice straights, nice long sweeper and few tight corners to test you out.Was up there today for a track day with the bikes. If you decide to come up,gimme a shout and we will meet you there and give you a few pointers mate.

Oulton personally.

Elvintons boring one big airfield with no real bends nothing to hit but then again if you use the full track you could hit somehring I'dm sure I've seen it done.

Donnigntons good though but not the best first circuit to do. Saying that Oultons not a good beginners track.

Depending on companies depends how much passengers are some comapnies let you have passengers fro free some charge.

You need a helmet but most places rent them.

Ben where do you live?

I live near Preston
So you think i should try out donnington for a beginner.
Then move on to oulton park. Would be nice to go straight to oulton park because its closer but i'll take you advice. do donington park allow a passanger?

Donington is an excellent circuit, i'd say go for that, although i've never been to Oulton so cant say on that.

I wouldn't exactly say donington is ideal for beginners, if you are a bit unsure go to an airfiled like elvington, however if you're reasonably confident then start out at a proper track as you'll learn more. Donington has a good combination of slower and faster corners and gradients too which you wont get from an airfield.

Oh and book some tuition! Always well worth it, especially on your first few trackdays or first day at a new circuit.

Sessions means you go on for 20 minutes then off for 40 minutes whilsts the other people go on. Its handy as they usualy run it as one session for beginners one for intermediate and one for advanced.

So you manged Oulton for your first time was it open pit?

Yep I have only done open pit trackdays..I much prefer them. I would'nt be intimidated once you get on the track everything falls into place....

I'm from the Preston/Blackpool area too..

Anglesey is a very good circuit which is good for beginners and it's not too far....

I was thinking the same question yesterday and decided i'm gonna do Oulton as its nearest. I live near Preston too! They're running a novice day on the 22nd of August:

It seems expensive but i've never done one before so not sure about prices. The link is quite good as it tells you what you do and what it entails...

Good thread.

Hey i might do that then i let you know if im going to go i look at the link. thanks

I did it as my first and second trak day ever. I;'m glad in many ways I did as some other circuits are very bland in comparison its higher rish as there closer barriers than others but that makes (for me) a more fun track.
