White stuff in engine oil

Okay so I took off my oil cap today and seen that there is a small amount of white goo on the inside, there is also a tiny bit on the dipstick. Everyone will be saying head gasket now, but there doesn't seem to be any leaks near the rocker cover. But after having a poke around I notived all the breather pipes were blocked with sludge. Would be helpful if anyone could help with this?

Have you been doing loads of short journeys whilst it has been particularly cold these past few months? Could just be a build up of condensation.

Personally I'd clean it up and take it for a good long run if everything else seems fine.

Yeah i've cleaned it out not took it for a run yet though, I was thinking condensation till I saw it on the dipstick

Its going to have to wait till next weekend now but I'll replace the oil and filter should I use an engine flush on it? To get rid of the gunk or not?

Take it for a good run and get it all up to temperature. My wife's Astra does the same thing after lots of short runs in cold weather. Don't bother using flushing oil but use a decent quality oil when you change it. If you can get the breather pipes off, give them a clean out and once it's had a good run it should disappear but it might take a few attempts to clear all of it if its really clogged up.

There notorious for it are the 1.2's, nearly everyone I see is like this. Mainly down to short trips, just try and give it a good run every now and then.

My mate has a 1.2 8v, it's terrible, we cleaned it out as much as we could, covered the rad with cardboard, and thrashed it about for a couple of days, nearly all gone now.

So they al do it.

Our 2011 tCe has a little discharge like build up to... normal on this engine especially if it does short journeys.

I'd still want it cleaning up though.
