Can I get a spin in your motor Jon? Before I commit myself to radical tuning. Is that black 182 of GDI'S similar spec to yours? Is Andy the only Renault tuner with a showcase motor to demo his products?

No worries James, I'll be at FCS and RWS this year I reckon (pending work!) so may even let you take it for a little blast. The power is a lot more linear than the 172's are standard though, so it probably wont feel as quick... mainly due to the 'alleged' 165lbs/ft torque at 2500rpm (I don't really believe that figure, but it does pull hard from very low down...). I'll get the missus along side though so you can see the actual difference, but we'll have to use coach lengths instead of car lenghts to measure the gap lol

Andy's is totally different and tbh his would blow mine away! lol
iirc it's got a massive single throttle body, but is running much wilder cams, solid lifters, forged pistons, rods and steel crank (i think?) and re-worked head.

That Andy motor sounds fearsome, have you driven it? What I'm after is neck snapping torque that comes in with a bang. Just like the super souped A series minis I had in my youth. Perhaps the Renault mill cant be made to be like that.

tbh you wont really get that turbo torque sensation although you certainly notice it, but on the other hand I can quite easily sit on the arses of E46 M3's with the missus sat in the passenger seat... and providing I dont get shouted at for doing so! lol

Roamer made 212 on JUST tb's

it was RR'd at 173 with no mods
then 185 with viper and cat back with superchip remap

then after tb's it made 212

all rr's done on the same rollers at power engineering in uxbridge

so theroetically he made a 39bhp gain and around 30lbs/ft from memory

means jack tho really mate...needs to be exact same temps etc etc etc.which unless in a sealed enclosure, is nigh on impossible.

212bhp on ITB's is good, mine really must be 240bhp and 193lbs/ft then! :rasp:

might get an ebay resistor to take me over the 400bhp mark

hey i'm just stating before and after results on what was the development car/kit of what you/we all have

temps and pressures are variables yes, but i'm not saying it HAD EXACTLY 212bhp, it made a 39bhp gain on the same RR which can be claimed obviously depending on the variables previously metioned (i'm sure Roamer has the graphs somewhere, so i'm sure we can have a look at the pressure and temps)
