why are the headrests in my car hinged and pivot upwards slightly?
can't be bothered to take a pic but i know most of you will understand...

any reason why its like that?!

not sure but I think the pivot is to allow for neck support should you be hit from behind. They should be adjusted to suit before starting your journey :)

hi pepsi, the reason why they are hinged is that they are designed to absorb any impact progresivley ,rather than just having your head slam into the pad. it also gives a wider range of adjustment.

Thought it was just for comfort really, I never use mine anyway. Good for having a kip in though as said!

They are rubbish like.

Any weight you put on them and they move from your selected position to the fully closed position. Pointless.

My old RT ones would sort of rotate forward and actually provide support (they just didn't go high enough for my lanky frame).
