why do jobs count in insurance???

done a quote for a mate his 1st car, clio 1.2 etc etc PLASTERER = 1900+

same details but put him as my job PRINTER = 1500

do they think he's going to take it on site or something???

Easy.

Purely because you use the car more depending on job as they see it.

Mechanic clearly would do homers etc so therefore is a bigger risk, where as a call centre salesman wouldnt do that much milage and wouldnt do homers as it where.

Makes sense for them to load a premium as they know which jobs are more risky and more likely to end up paying out on.

Not at all.

With car insured for social use only the increases for different jobs are the same.

i can see a slight point in that BUT i probably do more mileage "socialy" than my mate would be doing for homers, although i doubt the insurers know this, insurance does my head in, there are so many questions i'd like to ask but dont want a million threads :(

think it also works on stress levels involved with different jobs. ie high stressed job = more likely to crash in insurance companies eyes.

and also if you drive a company vehicle. I drive a van but only on site should i declare it?
