Why do we undervalue RS cars on this forum?????

I've been looking on Pistonheads and autotrader for a 172 and Cliosport members are the only people to blame for depreciation! Everyone on here de-values the product so much...
There was a 05 182 on here for 7500 and the exact same car with 2k miles less was on PH for 8950!!

I paid £8050 for my 05' 182 Cup with 16K on the clock. I felt I got a good deal as for the care and attention the car had received. Very nicely looked after.
Though I wouldn't say I got it cheap, though not expensive either. Depreciation hits hard in the first two to three years with nearly all cars.

you saw it on a dealers forecourt. Little bit different, Finance, warranty, Peace of mind (or so people think). Much different to selling privately. when selling privately you don't have a dealership and an army of staff to maintain, as well as making a profit.

yeah definately. i think its really due to people not having much money to buy stuff as cost of living has risen so owners have to sell for cheap.

exactly... just because a dealer wants 6495 for the 172, doesn't mean that they'll get it
but i do agree to an extent that CS undervalues cars... that's why we sold Bubbles 182 via pistonheads and not on here.

tbh, I dont beleive this forum really effects value of cars, I just think people want to buy on the cheap, thats how it is. Anyone who actually thinks an 02 reg 172 is worh 6.5k is sniffing something..... I sold mine for that nearly 2years ago!! lol
Thing is there are always bargains, mate paid 9.8k for his trophy with 7k on 18months ago? Was he bringing the market down? nope he just got a bargain! Cars are worth what people will pay.

Just imagine how fussy they'll be off here too when they come to see the car after knowing all about it and their faults!!... be so hard to to keep the potential buyer from seeing the bad bits that are there.. best get a noob off PH or autotrader to see it etc...
oh, and take a leaf out of seatcupra.net... they dont allow any replies what so ever apart from the author to add bumps... Stops the typical w@nker ruining the thread saying how his best mates dads dog bought it for £10k less etc etc...

On the subject of selling cars to members, the forum becomes part of the car's service history. A quick search will reveal all the problems the owner has had with the car, and what its been through etc. People don't think about this when they're posting threads.

on here is always a bit cheaper, but most online enthuiast places are, for example seatcupra/ vx220 etc cars are all cheaper on there forums than on pheads etc.
However i do think on here is pretty bad for values and the perception is that unless its total utter rock bottom then its a shite deal. However iv seen a few decent prices and still they dont sell on here. Imo a pretty bad place for sellers to put there car, good for the buyer though, juts not many of them

I agree with the majority of what's written in this thread, especailly the comments about 'if only I had the money' or 'if it's for sale in 2012 I might have it off you'.
The classic one (which I really hate) is people who try to do a deal by just posting up in the sellers thread. At the end of the day if your interested in a persons car, pm them about it, or just call them, don't tell the whole world about it.
