Wierd power steering issue

Yesturday I heard to what only can be described as screaching followed by total loss of power steering, the engine still being on of course. I pulled over, switched the engine off and back on and now everything is fine, any ideas?

A screech usually means that a belt is slipping. Loss of power means that the power steering pump is not working. So a pulley (not the drive pulley) might have frozen somewhere for a sec. I'd check the tensioner first.
