Will i get my ass kicked

hey, my friend just passed his driving test and is cruising round in some old escort heap, 1.3 l, but his mum has got a 1.8i corsa and apparently hes getting insured on it and has told friends he cant wait cos hell be able to kick my ass, do u guys think this is true when i have a 1.6i 16v clio? cos i aint going if hell do me badly lol ill get out the secondary car, the beast, the rover 600 2litre :) what u guys reckon?

  Not a Clio

think the corsa is faster, stats say 8 seconds to 60 and your clio is 9.5ish i think? Got that off parkers, i know theyre not always right.

There is more to life than "kicking someones ass" with your car you know. If thats what hes most excited about he sounds like a right knobhead.

lol, i know, but u know how us kids r , yea mines 9.5 but duno if that right cos mines 5 door, its just a thing cos ive had a 2litre rover and now this clio, they all seem to think i think im unbeatable in our little group when i dont at all, i just bin gifted to good opportunites wiv cars, but ill just say it aint ur car :)

I though Corsa only go up to 1.6l? Just make sure you make your car weigh less as possible, eg run it till you have about 1/4 tank of petrol, take out spare wheel and jack, rear seats, put in some octane booster, go on a diet and take a big dump before you go out.

Ah in that case, stip out the interior, remove the front passenger seat, dont eat for a week, run the car on petrol fumes and secretly put loads of bricks in the back of his car. That should do the trick.

lol, hm this is wot i thought, but its his old dears so duno if this should be allowed, by time hes on that ill have my kit, stereo lights the lot, lol, but im hoping the quad exhaust will raise my game a bit, im thinkin i shud fone his mum and tell her tis a bad idea for him to be on that kinda car, :) i dunno wot i h8 more, corsas or cossies!

Clio 1.6 16v- 110 bhp, 0-60 in 9.5, 0-100 in 32 secs.

Corsa 1.8 16v - 123 bhp, 0-60 in 8.0, 0-100 in 23.5 secs

Corsa will piss it im affraid :(

Im afraid non of the above is going to help you in anyway. Try loosing as much weight as possible. And go for some Nitros. Then ur in with a chance. Good Luck

But then its all down to the driver anyway... who cares????

anyway its his mums car ... least you own yours (or if its on HP you own the wing mirrors and half a tyre)

Rover 600 - cant imagine thats overly quick either to be honest.

not taking the piss mate, just telling it like it is...

lol, thats cool m8, ud be suprised at the old rover, makes 135 nicely :) i know, ive heard that in his escort he stalls it a lot and is cocky so the corsa will be new to him so im hoping he would stall on the green or atleast spin the wheels, cos that could easily take that second advantage off i reckon, and like ya say its his mums, but u can imagine it, my cars well fast etc....loser, heh, id still rather be a proud clio owner than the corsa :)

The Corsa !.8 weights loads I thourght.

Problems is the 1.8SRI has lowered suspension my mate had the 1.8 suspension on his SXi and he says its excellent.

LOL if you were going for a serious drag-race to decide who got to kick whose arse then you could cane the Corsa pretty easily. But if were just talking about every day traffic lights grand prix and getting from A to B then the Corsa will be quicker. Although Im sure it is some kind of abomination against nature to put a 1.8 in a Corsa.

Anyway if you want to do a one off race to settle it, no rules on mods then:

1. Let down the front tyres to about 20-25psi and keep the rear nice and hard. If you can borrow a pair of 18s or something then put them on the back and keep little wheels on the front.

2. Strip all the interior out except the drivers seat and dashboard, or get as near to that ideal as possible

3. Only have 1/8 of a tank of petrol. Just enough to do the run and get back to the petrol station.

4. About a hundred quid will get you a basic full throttle gearchange/launch control unit which will probably take 1/4-1/2 second off a 0-60 run. Wiring can be a bit of a hassle if youre not used to electrics.

4. You could go even further like taking the drivebelt off the alternator and removing your mirrors/aerial/wipers and taping up the bonnet and door shuts if you were going for a higher speed challenge like 0-100 or top speed.

Good luck!

wow, thankx for all the advice guys, i appreciate it, but oh how the tables cud have turned according to my mate that 1.8 is in fact not the sri its the diesal, hahahaha diesal, but this is not onfirmed, the guys whos mums car it is says sri my friend says its diesal cos his mum works for same company and they company cars, ill let u know what goes down, thankx again (esp nick :), im very intested in aquiring a launch control kit, but id defently need someone to fit it

when i had my corsa 1.4 8v (nice) my pal had a clio fiji and it used to kick my ass in the handleing department - even tho i had fat old wheels and his was running pram rims (it was glenns old car if anyone eva saw it) so i would assume yoiur have the advantage round the twisties - even so, be a real man and try anyway - i try race anything (saftey permitting) even if i know i am gonna get hooped - at the end of the day if a faster car beats you its not suprising but if you beat a faster car, you walk around feeling smug all day and have something to tell your mates later in the pub anyway (they prolly wont believe you but it takes up time)

try and ave im - if he wins in a faster car then its coz your cars slower, if you do him then who will be the don round these parts - lol

full throttle gear changes.

Practise your starts loads and your shifts and get them mega quick. If you can perfect it, dont use the clutch. Crunch crunch crunch.....
