round where i live there is always the typical corsa/ nova chav crew but i have noticed the increase in the number of 1.2 non sport chav cars cropping up, now the mk2 ph2 clio is becoming cheap to buy run etc how much of a risk is it of becoming the new nova?

also what cars that we can afford (so no lambo's haha) is never going to be a chav car?

The Mk1 and Mk2 172's will within the next 2yrs or so as prices tumble imo, It's a horrible thought that my minter 172 may be in the hands of some chav scum with max power stickers on and a 6" tailpipe within 2yrs
At the mo I don't think that anything with a Renaultsport badge on is perceived by Joe Public as being chavy but I'm sure this will change sooner than later, the Clio's will become the new Nova/Corsa/Saxo's

For once i actually agree with summin you've said........The VTR's have been the done thing on the modding/macky d's scene for yonks now!!!

imo anything that looks half decent and is cheap is in danger of becoming a chav car so yes the Clio is a target for all those ruddies out there!!!

The only thing you can take some consolation in, is that cheapo chav scum can't afford the insurance on an RS Clio!!!! Thankfully haven't come accross any myself.

On the other hand, the 1.2 Clios could easily be, but then again there is no reason for it to be a chav mobile than any other small engined hatch.

I always felt that the black 1.2 Dynamiques that sold in their bucketloads, ended up in the hands of chavs due to them being cheap, decent looking, plenty of features and cheap to finance.

I think the lesser clios have already turned in many cases. but as said 1*2's and even the valvers and williams will still be around a while before getting chavvyfied unlike the saxo...I'd rather own a Nova than a Saxo these days! lol

What has to happen for a car to become 'chav'? In my mind when young people start putting on body kits, big alloys, lowering etc... then it has become 'chavved'....

Personally I can see an end to 'modding', especially body work alterations based on the fact that all new cars have to meet very stringent design requirement re. pedestrian saftey etc... Unless the modifications meet the same standards I can see that slowly they will become illegal!

If you think about it, even now the Willams and Valvers haven't become chav mobiles, even though they are relatively cheap to buy. No reason why the 172/182 should go down a different path!!!

I see chavved up 1.2/1.4 hatches every day, not just Clios with the smaller engines but Corsas/Saxos/Novas/106s etc.

What about the 206?? How many chavved up ones you seen of them???

Why is everyone so obsessed with cars being chav or not. FFS hot hatches will ALWAYS be chav cars, they have always been so too.

Drive what you want and b****cks to what people think anyway. I really not shallow enough to be bothered by what people think of me. If someone wants to label me a chav for my choice of car, then more fool them.

You find me a well looked after absolutely standard williams. You cant as they have pretty much all been modded. I know this statement might upset alot of people on here, but at some point in its life its been molested. I cant find one that hasnt had some sort of work done to it. I've had my eye out for one for some time. I'm a picky bugger and want one that is in the same state (if not condition) that it left the factory as, so I can leave it as standard...

Modding a car does'nt make you a chav! or ruin the car if done well

I totally understand you wanting a standard car though
