Will this alternator work on my cup??

Hi,

Please can someone tell me if this will work on my 172 Cup? I had ordered one but found out today Renault have no stock until end of march and the car is currently off the road.

If not if someone could link me to one that would be great. I am a little confused by which will and won't work!!

No don't think it will mate as the 172/182 uses bigger voltage, it will just flatten the battery after time

So I have been looking. Found this one, which I know says 12V as well but the part numbers line up with the ones on my alternator ( see picture)

^yes that would fit, as long as your cup is non aircon

how did you find that? I have been looking for ages. Going to order it now. Fit it on Friday afternoon. Then 2 1/2 years and the cup will roll again!!!!!

I knew it was a Kangoo one and had the Renault part number from ours. Decent price that

Okay fitted it and measured the voltage across it and it is a 11.9* V no mater what load I put on it. It concerns me??

also as I drove off for the first time it whistled! And at just above idel to about 2.7k revs is continues to whistle until the sound is drained out by the engine.

All this concerns me a little. Is it normal, have I mis fitted it?

Anyone got an ideas?

It should read around 14.4v when running and around 12 when cranking, the whistle usually means the belt needs adjusting in cases I've seen.

You can also use a alternator and brackets out of a 2.0 8v scenic but you need to change the earth to a ring connector instead of the plug.

It is being replaced by the supplier. I have tried to adjust the belt etc. will be swapped on Friday, hopefully with a bit more luck this time.
