Williams Engine

Hi guys,

Well today i just bought myself a williams engine - the need for 2ltr power has become to much, so i got me a nice willy 3 lump with 70k miles. Anyway ive been speaking to Nick Hill @ Hillpower about fitting etc.. im thinking of just fitting engine "as is" (ie not having the engine rebuilt)

Reasons for this, is that i feel the Williams / clio 16v have a strong bottom end as standard anyway - mechanically they are sound. 9/10 most clio related faults work out to be electrics or silly things like clutch / alternator / gaskets.

Ive suggested replacing walter pump / clutch / alternator / oil pump / wishbone mount - then just fitting it. Im having some head work done after christmas (and a chip) so there is no point pulling that apart.

So would we all agree this is the best thing to do? views anyone?

Id change the cambelt while the engine is out, just to be on the safe side.
Unless you know it has already been done.

Who did you buy the engine from, Neil?

Mat.

No not from Neil, no one youd know mat ;) Cambelt willbe done when fitted.

Glenn - i dont have MSN in my new job :( Ill tell you about it @ the next meet.

do the cam belt, tensioner, idler, alternator belt and tensioner, water pump clutch and clutch cable along with a good service she should be running sweet as.

And Torsion Tuning are closer mate, and probably alot cheaper! Wont cost much to get them to fit it for you. If you need any parts drop me a PM.

yeah Glenn is right - its difficult cuz hillpower are doing me a deal. Marcus, can you get new parts cheaper or somethings? im going to need a few bits.

1300 fitted!!

A lot of people may say thats OTT - however i was getting sick of looking for one! There so hard to find, and most people that do have um want top dollar for them. This was just right, with fitting just right - tho i did think hard before making my mind up.

You hear people say "you can get a megane bottom end for 400 quid" - yeah? then show me one?!

to give you an idea - i was being quoted 400 for a full service and cambelt change (on a 72k service) whats the point? if i can have a willy lump with a new cambelt fitted for 1300 it makes sense to go for the 2nd option.

After xmas ill be looking to fit a chip / cams / headwork - let the fun begin!!
