Williams Springs

  Evo MR FQ300 & Clio V6

Just had my Willy 3 in for an MOT today and both the front springs are broken at the top. Called renault and they want £78 +vat per spring!! Demon Tweeks have eibach 25mm drop ones for £88 the pair. The car is low at the front as it is - tyre has a few mm gap between it and the wing. Has anyone with standard springs have a bigger gap here? The rear has a much bigger gap. If my standard ones are broken then the front of the car may have also lowerd and would fitting these aftermarked springs maintain it at the present height??

Has anyone got a lowerd Williams?? Pictures??

Demon tweeks list the 16v as the same spring for the Williams, however the standard 16v springs wont fit the Williams??

Need some advice ASAP - reMOTing it soon.

Cheers

Simon

i got a broken spring on the passenger side, and like you say renault want £80 per spring. i considered getting lowered ones cos they were cheaper, but then you gotta lower the back end unless you want a dragster look!!!

on standard springs you only get a couple of mms gap on the arches. the good thing is that the springs are easy to change cos of the setup on the car, couple of bolts, compress them and whack them on.....well thats what the fitters at work said to me:D

just out of interest what colour pattern have you got on your springs -mine are double white slashes.

oh yeah you checked k-tec as the do lowering springs at £50 a pair.

Heres mine when i picked it up with lowering springs fitted>

Now gone back to standard as it used to catch a lot on full lock.

16v springs are exactly the same, only differences youll find are the colour marking which invariably tend to be double whites.

Personally i would get the standard springs cos lets face it, you dont want to mess up the handling on a willy! Thats the best bit!!!

Cheers Guys!!

Mat, mine actually looks like the same ride height as yours in the pictures!!!! Was it left standard at the rear?

I will look 2moro and see if theres any "blobs of paint" It may be it has been lowerd at some time and I didnt realise it. I can get my hand curved around the tyre at the top but my knuckles catch the wheel arch - My tyre top is not visible like Mats.

Hopefully these will be a stocked item or at least not a few weeks wait!

Cheers

Just checked and the springs have double white blobs of paint on them.

Here is a picture of my car at the moment with broken springs (excuse the dirt the snow has just gone!!)

Does this ride height look lower than the normal Williams?? Just wondering if the broken springs have lowerd it.

Mat - did you mean just buy 16v springs as the only difference is a blob of white paint - colour marking??

Cheers

That does look slightly lower than a normal williams but not enough to be down to lowering springs - id say its just the broken springs that have caused that....

Id say that was just lower cos of a broken spring.

Think youll find they are the same price for a 16v spring as a willy spring, what i mean is that i have just fitted some 16v springs to my car and they had the same double white marking so they are not different at all.
