Wire running from calliper? MK1

Just wondering if anyone knows what the wire pictured below is for. At 1st I thought ABS but the car doesn't have it. Then I thought brake pad sensors but the car is a MK1 1996 and the basic 1.2 model... So doubt it would have it. It's driving me nuts so if anyone knows please let me know
