wiring a cd head unit to a batery?

  BG 182
Evening.
after many years of rubbish cd players giving up on us 2 days into our yearly festival weekend, my brother and I have been considering building a little music box using a cd headunit hooked up to a car battery,
does anyone have any idea how long the battery life would be?...
and any advise from anyone who has done this in the past would be great..
Thanks

work its out. If the cd player takes 20amps and you have a 40ah battery, then it will last 2 hours.

You honestly think this'd be easier than buying more batteries?

I already have the stuff laying around in the garage and it would be a silly project to mess around with rather than trying to find something easier.

the fatty, thanks. thats what I wanted to know

fire a solar panel into the mix aswell and i think you could get a good 6+ hours out of a 20Ah battery

No way a cd head unit used like that uses 20 amps, thats over 200 watts. Might use 200watts if you have 4 speakers attached and the volume up at maximum which I doubt.

5-10 amps at the most it would use.
