  ITB'd MK1
I have to say, ultimatley as time moves on each new model is better than the last and that's relevant with Williams and Renault Sports.

(imo)

doesn't always follow quite like that though. newer cars get heavier, more restrictions are implemented, more safety stuff is put in. Things are compromised. Better is a VERY hard word to quantify when comparing cars, so many things are subjective.

  williams and trophy
and ur opinion is wrong

the mk3 escort better than the mk1+2??

the new mini better than the original??

the new beetle better than the original??

the 197 better than a williams??

To look at it from another perspective, weight is the enemy of performance. New cars get heavier and heavier.

I have to agree with danny. It's the extra safety regulations, the extra emissions regulations, this means more weight, more complication, less fun.

The F4R is a better engine though IMO. F7s are just HUGE.
But the MK1 is just a superior way to travel at speed

  Golf GTD Mk7
That elise needed to move aside. annoying when people do that on the track. Was the willy standard? Sounded well :approve:

Lol, you're comedy.

No my opinion is not wrong, you just don't get other people have different needs, wants and feelings. I don't say your's is wrong because that's up to you. However if you want I'll say that it is, you're wrong.

Ohh and we're talking Renault, not Ford, Mini, VW, or anyone else. I haven't owned anything other than a Clio so cannot comment on that. In those circumstances I have no idea.

Furthermore, actually, I'd say the 197 is going to be better than the Williams too.

  williams and trophy
in what respect??

that would also make the 197 better than the trophy in ur random reasoning??

i know which id have given the choice.

i fully appreciate different needs/wants/feelings. but tbh, if your going to buy a clio, coming from another clio.....then obviously your needs/feelings/wants havent changed in the slightest.

hmmmm going by your reasoning. the later 182s must have been better than the trophy, as are the later dcis etc etc etc.

u should have saved your money and bought one of them mate.no point in buying an inferior car for exorbitant outlay now is there??

I said they were better, not one was rubbish. And yeah, tbh, I would go with that. However a 197 was alot more than my Trophy.

What do you mean the later 182s better than the Trophy. The Trophy's were the last 182's. You're trying to knit pick but it's only to your detriment.

  williams and trophy
so there were no more 182s registered after all the trophys??????

but the 197 is better.......so the extra money would have been well spent. ;)

but for something to be better, means that whatever its better than, must be rubbish compared to the newer better thing no??

Stop all the arguing! The facts are simple!

Some people are men and like Mk1s.
Some people are women and like Mk2s. End of.

LOL. I was reffering to car models not the days they run off the production line, but I'm sure you knew that.

  williams and trophy
but they are newer....so they must be better....whenever they were built they are still classed as newer, if registered later.

how u can class the 172 better than a williams, and a 182 better than a 172, and a trophy better than a 182 is beyond me.

the trophy and the williams are fairly equal in terms of drivability. but a 172????????? wtf??

I said each new model. A newer by days 182 is not a model. I was hoping you would realise that. A model is a new or revised design, new or revised concept, new car. This is not the case with a differing number off the production line. I count the Trophy, 182, 182 cup as all different models. The 172 and 172 cup.

For me, the 172 was a better car.

A proper cup (172) would be more of a comparison to a Willy imo.

Not getting involved, but last trophy was on an 06 plate, and I believe the last 182 was 55 plate. Could be wrong though

It is kind of a strange argument going on to be fare. They are all from the same pedigree, and hense are all fab to drive. They all have their own unique feel and imo is all down to what the driver prefers. eg. the 197 is more stable than the 182, but some people like the rear end on the 182. I love the look of the willies and reliability aside I would buy one. Just look after it. Cheaper to fix or stick the f4r in and have the best of both worlds.

so the 172 is now the better car??? im confused mate. the cars get better the newer they are...in models.....alledgedly.....so u took another step backwards...moving from the 172 to the trophy???

I'm really stuggling to see what you're having trouble with.

  williams and trophy
u state the rs series get better as they go on. but yet u think the 172 is the better car.

hows that work?? a little contradictive isnt it??

There's a line missing from what you quoted tho mate.....

Those that like to shag anything, be it male/female/animal drive Trophy's and are faster than Williams drivers.

;)

Never a truer word been spoken.

Ohh, I see what you're getting at, maybe I should have made it clearer.

In that post I was replying to your comment about the 172 being better than a Williams and it being so hard to understand. I was saying that imo the 172 was better than the Williams.

You're right the Trophy is better than the 172 from my experiences.

So I'd say Trophy>172>Williams.

  williams and trophy
and how do you get to that??

the williams is quicker, better poised, comfier, more economical, has larger boot space so is more practical, is just as reliable, handles better, has more driver feeling, less driver aids/hindrances.

the list could go on.

If you want me to write a review on my findings I will. Unlike most it'll be fair and representitive of all three. I'll subtitle it "How a Trophy pans a Williams and how a 172 is still better".
