wot happens if aux belt goes?

Sometimes takes out the cam belt as well!

am on 41000miles without changing cambelt or aux belt

get it changed then. it usually snaps, the wraps itself round the bottom pulley jumping the cambelt

My aux belt went and took out the cam belt as well.
Slight front end dammage wich cut the aux belt, how un-luckey, was I. lol

Had to replace pritty much everything:-

Forged pistons
Forged conrods
Valves
Aux belt
Cam belt
Head

The pistons and conrods were all pritty much ok.
Just thort id uprate them.

you should check your aux belt for cracks...i say this because i looked at a 172 with the 42k on the clock the other day...the aux belt was full of cracks...so i walked away...

im being a bit stupid here, whats a aux belt?

Its the belt which takes drive from the engine and turns the alternator, power steering pump, air con compressor and water pump. Imagine how many times this piece of rubber spins round and round, stopped and started, cooled down and heated up. The rubber starts to perish after 2 years.
