I have a standard 172 mk2 phase 2 . I got a mate who has a 1.8 sri corsa and is spending about 1k getting cams fitted . Would his car match mine or will it still be slower.

The 1.8 Sri is pants as std can't see it being a lot better with more wild cams.

id still put monies on the 172

well the has like 40BHP more as standard and i don't think cams are going to make that difference up so you will still win, if i was him i'd just sell the SRI and buy a clio 172 PH2, wont be much price difference.

A cammed SRI against an FF, probably closer than you think although the Clio will still have the edge.

I think you'll pull on it quite a bit tbh, especially off the line.
In standard the form the 1.8 sri is weak as. I proved that many a time years ago.
