Just askingif you think I should source a different one due to the damaged part?

Also just while I was taking photos....Is this the right part number for the alternator on an 04 182 with Climate Control?

Yeah thats my concern.... I dont want to go to all the trouble replacing it for it to then damage the belts/not working properly due to the dmaged edge.

I wouldn't put anything on my car that was damaged.... If you do, you'll worry about all the time and it will ruin driving.

Not a chance, damaged pulley which could chew at the belt in operation, looks like it's been at the bottom of the sea and you've no idea what damage the impact which damaged the pulley has done to the unit. I'd be sourcing another.

The lip that's broken is only a fail safe to stop the belt moving off. Which considering it's grooved and under tension is very unlikely anyway. so long as there are no sharp bits that would damage the belt, i'd imagine it will be fine. Saying that, if it's been dropped, do you know it's still working?

Can you not swap the pulley from your old one on to it?

Or that :)

Can you not take the Wheel off and replace it with your other alternator, I would imagine it coming off but think it will be a left hand thread so tighten to loosen an visa versa.

I think it was just damaged in transit as it was just wrapped in bubble wrap and there are some pieces of the plastic still in the packaging but I suppose it could still have been dropped.

See above.

i know u can change the pully wheels done it on other vehicles if the center has a allen key and you have a swan spanner that fits should work , impact wrench shud work as well.

but if its been dropped allot you wouldnt know if its damages the alternator its self

Yeah it is bit of a concern but I think I might go with it and if it seems faulty then I'll whip across to a breakers yard and grab another one from them.

So the one curerently on will have a metal pulley which can be easily swapped?

Treat yourself to a new one. The one you have bought is from a 2000 car and I can't see that lasting long.

i wouldn't even put that on mine source a new one. you don't know how long that things going to last! or how long its been open to the elements in a scrap yard!
