Looks awesome, I'd personally go for the V8 engine over the rotary.

But I suppose if your one of these people that gets hard-ons over jap spec wheelnuts then it probably isn't for you.

LOLOCAUST. Ahhh.

Or... Mazda spent a great deal of money and time, perfecting the front-midship layout, only for some dumb colonial to plonk a dirty great lump of pushrod pig-iron in the front. Net result being a 94/6 weight split. :p

Dont criticise others if you yourself don't know much about the LS7 block you're speculating about.

It isn't that much heavier than a 13B. A triple rotor block would actually be heavier than the LS7 V8. Also due to its compact size you can get it mounted quite far back so it does not upset the distribution very much at all.

The LS7 makes a lot of sense as a swap when you think about it. Don't compare it to the older Chevy blocks which are very heavy. The LS7 is rather different. Plus that torque would make it an ace car to drive. 470ft lbs at just over 4000rpm...and it revs to 7000rpm as standard. Well it is set at 7000rpm the actual block is good for 8000rpm. Just cams etc limit top end power so it was set to 7000rpm.

Oh and also it might only have 505hp...but standard Z06 vettes with 505hp have clocked high 10's in the quarter. And they are heavier than the RX7's.

I supposed the only negative is if you are a Jap purist. However the V8 makes sense. Especially in a street driven car. As the rotoaries aren't well known for their torque. Probably gets similar MPG too and uses less oil.

it might not be heavier but its huge! and its over the front wheels and infront of them f**king up the ballance of the car! there are 500bhp rx7's running 480-490ftlb torque... there are 400bhp rx7's running 10sec quarters! there are 350bhp ish rx7's on standard twin turbo settups running low 11's so the wankel is hardly that bad ffs....

if i was a purist sticking a tripple rotor in a rx7 would be out of the question to as they didnt make a rx with a tripple its either custom made or out of a cosmo...

and lol at the uses less oil comment... such a pathetic comment to make... just like the oh they need a rebuild at 60k bullshit lol there are 100k rotarys running around used as everyday cars lol...

its the same pathetic internet rumours like the ones that go around about r5 gtt's lol if you look after a car it will work as it should, treat it s**t and well what do u expect.

The V8 is all alloy.

The centre of the turrets are only level with the 2nd row of cylinders so it as far forward as the rotary is.

You claim to know about the LS-Series... then shoot yourself in the foot by saying "cams"

Cam. ;)

the crank pulley is infront of the antiroll bar... on a 13b there is nearly a foot gap between the roll bar and the crank pulley!

a 13b engine is just over a foot square! if you take the inlet mani and alt off of a 13b u can see how tiny they are! the 13b is behind the turrets hence being MID mount...

Yeah it is, thats why his insurance is so annoyingly low!

I read some of this thread's argument. Then just saw stars for about five minutes. Who's engine is made of Z06 what? And who's Cam when he's at home?

It was rebuilt 1500 miles ago apparently.

My mate is no fool, it will be 100% mechanically sound or he wouldnt have bought it, he knows his stuff.

GM LS-Series engine. In loads of cars, from pickups to the Corvette. LS7 being the "holy grail" engine of the range.

All-alloy. One cam... ahem.

Pushrod design. Jesus designed it whilst he had thinking time on the cross. That's how old it is.

lol Malice, how is the rebuild thing a "rumour". Its a widely known fact that if the car hasnt been looked after properly by a previous owner, then chances are its going to need an engine rebuild when the miles get a bit higher.

I'm going to have to pull you up on that one. I'm yet to see an engine that takes kindly to not being looked after properly.

the same way like i said renault 5 gtt's have a habit of popping head gaskets... its when dick heads get hold of them that they go pop, if you didnt look after the engine in your 1.2 it would go pop!

it doesnt take 2 seconds to pull a dipstick and check the level and top it up if needs be... they run on mineral oil it costs like 10 quid for 5 litres lol! pop the centre water cap off check its got water and thats it... hardly hard is it? oil change every 3k miles... and there is nothing else to do lol, a rotary engine is simple it has 3 moving parts... its retarded people who say they are unreliable!

Obviously. What I was trying to get at is that, from what ive read and been told, theyre a bit more delicate than a normal piston engine. A 4 pot in a Paxo VTR, for example, has probably had a hard life but that doesnt mean it wont read 80k miles. Rotary engine, same situation and things might be different, as is my understanding.

K series s**ts headgaskets for a past time, as does the bmw M43 BMW engine... plenty of engines from numerous makers suffer issues. I certainly wouldn't single out a rotary as being any more likely to than a piston engine personally. Rotaries have/are used in aero applications if they had inherent issues with failure then you sure as hell wouldn't see them getting put into something that flies.

you comparing a saxo to a rx7??

an rx7 was designed as a sports car, it was made to be high performance!

you wouldnt expect a 40 yr old woman to buy a rx7 as a shopping car, its a serious drivers car, a f**king skyline is just as delicate lol, i have seen just as many rb engines go pop from oil starvation as i have seen rx7's!

your comparing a typical consumer car to a specialist car! its like comparing a 1.2 clio to a f**king zonda lol you just cant do it its a complete different kettle of fish lol!

quiet possibly the worst arguement for a wankel being delicate i have EVER seen lol!

a single turbo wankel will rev to 8500rpm and run well over a bar of boost! not many other engines will do that lol!

  Integra Type-R DC2
I was hardly comparing them you jackass, I was trying to make a point. Im actually trying to get my facts straight here by telling you what my understanding is of the w**kel engine, but to be honest, your being a bit of a prick. If you cant have a serious duiscussion without taking offence and throwing a hissy fit (over a f**king car engine) then im wasting my breath.

hang on ...

your the one who said...

Thank f**k for that. w**kel is apptly named, imo.

now your saying your trying to get your facts straight.... and your understanding... which is clearly that you have 0 facts, and you have no understanding... you're the one who came out with the childish comment and acting a prick over something you have no understanding over?

if we all believed what the internet says, the twin towers was done by the american government, there are aliens in area 51, elvis, tupac and biggie are all still alive and a clio cup will beat a veyron around a track...

point prooven... thankyou :)

  Integra Type-R DC2
That was before Turkish made a good point on different engines and their reliability. Maybe I had been mislead by people telling me they were unreliable.

So if I have no facts, am I wrong in thinking that you'll be lucky to see over 24mpg?

most i got out of it was 26mph, if i drive it sensibly i can get 24-25mpg... its closer to 16mpg normally and down to 9mpg or lower if im messing around.... when i stick a single turbo on it and 1600cc injectors, i will get 6-12mpg or lower if i play hard... but then i didnt get much better in my 200sx... and most performance cars do the same lol, if your driving a rx7 you need to be able to afford to run it and maintain it... if you cant you dont have any business driving one lol!

  Integra Type-R DC2
Fair enough. I want to like Rx7's, I think theyre great looking cars, I just dont know if I could live with one. But as weve determined, they obviously get a bad name through misinformation.

How much would one like yours cost to buy?
