wtf has my mate done to his laptop (quick help needed)

can anybody help me, my mates just fucked his laptop im sure its only something really stupid though.

all his desktop icons and icons in the start up menu are internet explorer logos? so when i try to open anything up it tries opening through IE ????

i restored it back a couple of events but nothing, so i restored it back a couple of weeks and its worked. done

Tell him to put some decent anti-virus on there.

Something like Linux should do it haha !
