Xbox 360 wireless woes!

My D-link router packed up and I managed to borrow a Netgear DGB111G, I have got it working with the computer (wired straight from router), and went to connect the 360... it found the router and I entered the wep key password. It couldnt find the IP so I entered these myself and it then says, it cant use a static IP!

At work for now, but want to give it another crack when I get home, any suggestions on what to try and what I should be looking for on the router options?

Had the exact same problem with my Netgear. Got a Belkin and it worked the first day and then stopped. I have to connect by turning on pc and sharing connection through Ethernet to xbox which is LAME!!!

I got the CD, but having looked at issues other people have faced I'm going to try some DHCP settings and a few other bits before it goes in the bin!

Try downloading the latest firmware for it too. That has solved various router problems that I have had in the past.

Yeah will give that a try, just found some other posts that reserving the xbox mac code works or something like that! I see a long afternoon ahead!!

Updated firmware and its worked, but i cant connect to any games on MW2! Not even searching for any.. just stuck on screen 'awaiting for 3 more players' not sure if this is xbox or router issue!

Nope it was doing this last night on my PS3 too. I reckon an issue Infinity Wards side.

Eventually sorted itself out.

Check your NAT setting???

NAT status is on the first screen before you select a game, bottom left. It should be "Open", if it is "Strict" then you need to forward ports in the Netgear for XBL.

No, but I think a have a crock of s**t router!!

Says its all working now, but still cant play MW2 as it wont find any games! Maybe its there servers.

I had that the other day all day but been working fine since. I thought it was because I was connecting through pc and was slowing me down. I'm still doing that and it finds about as many matches as when the wireless worked now. So it may just be you can randomly connect to a bad server or something.

When it happened I could still join friends games just fine. So maybe see if any friends are on and try joining or getting them to invite you.

If you have moderate NAT then you need to forward the correct ports, see previous link above :)

Well, my mate also had an older router - same model, but V2 rather than V4 and its working! I manged to get online and play free for all - was a bit laggy but I think that may have been the host rather than me!

Not tried the port forwarding, will give that a go if its still laggy.
