YEAH! Had AUX belt done at last!

Hillpower was too busy. Stealers wanted £246 not inc parts. Eurocars wanted £173 and most garage wouldn't give me a price or just didn't want to do it!

Anyway found this timing belt center on Porchester road, Nottingham. Did it for £120. Had to buy kit for £50 but think thats a good deal compared to the other quote I got. This place weren't sure at first but they rang back after checking on the car (why everytime you say a 2l 172 do they think it's a Williams) they rang back and said they would take the job on.

So went down Notts. Dropped car off. Went round town for 5 hours to return and it wasn't finish! :dapprove:
Say drinking shandy in some beer garden accross road. Two hours later my car pull into car park! YEAH

Wasn't covered in smudgy hand marks neither which makes a change. Went across and paid the man after checking under bonnet and all seems good.

Only thing I can say is it has a little whine. Not the squeel before which would happen if you tried to steer when stationary. But like a whine as you rev the engine.
The guy said it is normal just run it steady for a wee while and it should settle in! Hope thats right!

Yeh it'll whine a little to start off with, will slowly get quiter then stop after a few hours use.

The whine could be the idler bearing.

Whoever was parked behind me at FCS needs this part too!!

Yeah. I remembered tat technique when stuck in traffic!

What is the idler bearing? Is it not part of the kit?

Dont get stuck in traffic much! and weathers not been great anyway, Dont think im that bothered about aircon really! Uses too much fuel and when it breaks down is expensive. LOL

Even the next car im getting (197 CUP) wont have aircon ;)

To be honest I could live without it quite happily but spent £150 fixing it so feel like I've got to defend it.

  RSC 182 Cup
No aircon huh? Novel idea. Except when you live in a region which has summer temps for most of the year hehe :)

Done half at tank now and it still sounds a little whiny. Bit like a turbo does sometimes.

Should be settled in by now surely. Can the pre-tensioner be set wrong?
