Young 172 drivers

Car  Clio Sport 16v
The opportunity has finally arisen where by i can and afford a 2002 172, big problem im 19.

just want to know young drivers age and insurance quote, if tried engines but only quote i got was £1,700??

Age and price would be excellent please!

Mike

when i was 21 it was £2000 on my old 172 f**k ever paying that again

I wouldn't pay that much on insurance again, unless it was a Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo tbh. At 21 it was about a grand for me. TBH if you can afford it and want it, then why not. Only live once mate! Just don't go into debt/financially cripple yourself for the next year just for a 172 though.

Add your parents as named driver as they help with most companies to lower your quote.

would you say it was worth it though?
Im quite happy with my 1.2 lol and it cheap all round but this monaco blue 172 is up for sale down my road and its stalking me.

Also whats the engines like when they reach 100k?
this cars got 98k and im abit of a milage freak :dead: lol

Wouldnt buy it with 98k on especially not for 3k

it was worth it at the time but i couldn't go back to paying that now im 25 now

If its looked after and full receipts & service history then should be alright. Would expect it for a fair bit cheaper than £3k though. What's the rest of the car like?

If they've been looked after, serviced regular etc, they'll be fine, there's a few knocking about on here over the 100k mark. Fletcher's is a mint example of this ;).

Personally the high mileage would scare me off but that just me.

Cheers mate :)

The old girl ticked on 105,000 today.

£1400, 18, 1yrs ncb - Performance Direct. FTW downside however is that the excess is like £700!
performance direct told me they dont insure drivers on clio sports unless they have had past experiance with a performance car.

and i refuse to believe you pay 1400 on an RS at 18.
Sorry :o

19. 0NCB, 2 Years claim free driving as a named driver. 1600 FC. 400 excess. Got my old boy as named driver

lol your talking pennies.

A chap at work has a GTi 180 at 19 years old and when he got it he had no NCB. He paid £4500 to insure it.

I did not believe him so he brought in his paperwork and when I saw it I was nearly sick.

A Peugeot ffs!

21 with no no claims of my own because I was on my mums insurance before, but I pay £1000 and they said if I dont claim in my first year, they will give me my 4years no claims bonus onto my policy to make up. And my excess is £250, this is with egg by the way :)

if you think it's worth it then do it, i paid 1500 fully comp at 19 on a 172, my renewal at 21 is about 800 makes it a bit cheaper adding a parent as a named driver too.

Also i think its got a cracked fog light, if your reffering to the one at pump hill that is.

i paid 1550 last year when i was 19 with 1 ncb. so thats not a too bad a quote really! try specialist insurers such as brentacre they should be help you.

Hi,

I was paying £1,527 on the Trophy when I was 19.. I think I paid £1,038 last year with 1 NCB. So that price seem's about right.

tbh I'd check that over because flux won't insure under 21 on a 172 the websie will just expect your 21 and still give you the qoute
Got the documents here in front of me with my DOB & car on and i can assure you they will insure people under 21.

Maybe its because its a modified policy?

I've had quotes off Adrian Flux when I was under 21. Were stupid high at the time on my 1.4, this year they've been best for my 172.

Maybe you're thinking of Greenlight, they're over 21 only.

Sorry :o

I dont pay that, thats a quote I got. With regards to not insuring drivers unless theyve had past experience with a performance car, think that was made up.

the quote was £1400 as a named driver on a policy with both my parents. With a ridiculous excess that I could never pay anyway.

Il stick with my 1.poo till after uni.
:D
