Your opinions on FCS 2010

Looking at the pics, i'm glad i didn't come this yr. Looked even more chavy than last yr. That said the only part of FCS i enjoy is meeting the people. The whole standing round poking clio's lost it's attraction in 2004 for me. Well done to admin for putting it all together tho, it's a fair old task!

I got the FP magazine on the way in, thought that was quite a nice touch actually

Same here, I wasn't expecting anything so it was a welcome surpise.

I thought I saw you walk into the tent with some others but wasn't sure if it was you, so I didn't say hello.

I think we all need name badges! lol!

I have been the last three years and tbf i think this year was the best:), still not the best show of the year but defently a good one.

i think the reason its not great is purely because of the market its aimed at, the show is for French cars only, so you dont get the variety you get at other shows. (obviously)

when i have been to other car shows i spend ages looking at the diferent club stands but at FCS i normally only look at CS C16V and a few others i might pass on the way to the toilets...once you have seen one 106,saxo,c2, valver,1*2 you have pretty much seen them all imo....

so yes the day is pretty short and other than 2 stunt shows theres not much else to do. and yes i know its difficult to get that variety at THE FRENCH CAR SHOW lol but thats what i personalty think it lacks.

imo i think it would be much better if there was more market type stools or company's there with actual products on there stands ready to sell at special show prices. for instance it would be good to go there and actually buy same brake pads, discs, fluids, a roll cage, strut braces, springs, coilovers ect.... either new or second hand but no stools there offer this type of product which i find a bit strange tbh when most stock this stuff anyway?:S

another good addition would be a massive beer tent with some decent music or something, i just feel the show lacks any real main atration other than the stunt show or watching a rallyx car drive in a straight line 3 or 4 times :dead:

all just my opinion but its what a couple of my mates had said as well....

Glad to hear some you got the odd flump, those that missed out need to visit the cs marquee as those that seek will find! ;)
But don't worry, they'll be at Trax so make sure you come over and claim yours.

I didnt go into the CS tent at all so you probably made the right choice there lol.....I didnt see many people I knew tbh, most people park up then bugger off so its difficult to catch people and say Hi.

Not a bad show at all, enjoyed meeting some of the traders and CS.net guys, I think the BBQ would be a good Idea. But apart from that a good day out. Got to show my steering wheel retrims to a few people which is always good. And managed a 30min slot on track....so all in all not a bad day.

cs definately needs its own BBQ so we can all sit down and have a natter together.

i have no problem sitting down with admin and the clique in the tent but some are a scared and we are lacking space to do so.

this might be something to look into next year.

I think the biggest change to the CS side of things would be to create a better "communal area" I know we have the tent, but for a 180+ members, its not that large. It'd be nice to have a CS BBQ, but as previously said I doubt it'll be allowed. Just somewhere to sit/stand and actually chat to other members etc.

I felt like I could see a load of cars that I recognised, but couldn't speak to any of the owners, because I didn't know where they were etc. Sort of like I went with the club, but really only went with Mike and Tunst.

I didnt see many people I knew tbh, most people park up then bugger off so its difficult to catch people and say Hi.

This seems like a common theme, and something I'd agree with. Obviously we all had a busy day as admin, but I hardly got to speak to any of the members other than those that visited the tent and buy merchandise.

BBQ is almost certainly a no-go due to health & safety issues, as well as conflicting with the caterers who pay serious money to be there, but I'll discuss with the team to see what we can do to provide an incentive for people to gather on the stand a bit more at future shows.

A mass pm with a shortcut to the dash-passes wouldn't have gone a miss or am I the only one who doesn't read every thread......... :(

A pm to everyone to let them know about free sweets would have got more people coming in :rasp:

Who won what awards for the club (was mentioned in the display pass thread) and what did they win?

You're the only one, it was an FCS sticky after all ;)

Glad you're going to look into making it a bit more social, I think it'd be cool to create a central circle with a few cheapo fold out chairs or stools or something? Bung the tent there too and bingo, social area!

Oh and I didn't realise the flumps were free, I though you were just selling sweets?! FLOL! I want one now :(

i think donny and mandy had a bbq a few years back for the west mids lot and the organisers told them they wernt allowed to. me and ady172uk had us a ghetto bbq hidden behind our cars round the corner away from prying eyes lol.

I didn't come to the tent, i'm way too shy ...........but if beforehand you had pm'd me about flumps i would have been everyones best friend.
Oh and strange layout for the show in general.....i didn't even know there was a second arena until Laura pointed it out five minutes before we left. much better would have been to have them back to back.
I thought it was all a bit compact too considering there was a massive car park behind not doing anything, why make it so it was fenced off in a way that meant loads of cars were pushed around the corner (obviously not CS's fault btw)

I think i was only dissapointed in so much as it was my first time and i expected a bit too much, i was looking for things to do come 1pm......so i went and got a quote from Adrian Flux which turned out well :)............even if i did get blanked by the spandex barbie's :rasp:.........honestly would it kill to say hello?
I'll give trax a go and hope for less in the way of monsoon rain on the way home :)

Was strange to walk in the CS tent and known by your lot from 3 years ago in the time of BBQ's, sorry buddy i cant remember you name.
That was me John! :)

BBQ is almost certainly a no-go due to health & safety issues, as well as conflicting with the caterers who pay serious money to be there, but I'll discuss with the team to see what we can do to provide an incentive for people to gather on the stand a bit more at future shows.

Back when we did the BBQ, we had some serious grief from the stewards...Mandy had to fight tooth and nail for it to carry on as the stewards were being arsey and the traders were complaining saying we were taking business from them (we weren't selling...we were giving them to those who put in...and giving them to other CS members as a bit of an ice-breaker.

They had a sign up when you came in this year, advising that 'NO BBQs'. Which you can understand...but the prices need to drop!

The trade stands (in general) were s**te. Dodo Juice were charging full whack, and the Auto Glym muppet tried to sell me Machine Cleaner (1 litre) for £8.99 (its £6.99 from Halfords!). The number of places selling number plates (show plates) was silly.

As said, fair play to Streamline Carbon for offering 'show prices'...would definately recommend that to some of the others.

I might get some Clio stuff in a van to make it look like a car boot sale...Oh, wait...someone beat me to that! ;)

PS. Did anyone venture into the 'VIP' area? I walked in and out in about 30 seconds as it was shocking!

PPS. Thanks Brian for the organisation, and paying out for a ticket to spend 90% of your time in/around the marquee. :)

we did the same mate. went in, grabed a few pens and calenders. few sweets and never went back in there. oh yeah, we also set the jenga up so it didnt matter which one was moved, they would all fall down.

Lol at the Jenga! I lost to the girlfriend at Connect4, then left the VIP suite with a couple of freebies, was a poor effort of a VIP suite

Who ever was in charge of the music was a goon!
And i had a s**t space at the other part for cs cars, felt like i was with a different group they should give us more space so wer all near each other
other than that was a good day lol

I'll post up a few thoughts...

I treated the day as a track day mostly - I had one session booked with the 172 cup in the morning - but the car was so quick, so much fun to drive.. I got hooked. Got 2 more sessions in - and they were fantastic.

HOWEVER - The same b****cks happens every year with dickhead heros on track. They say in the briefing if you overtake on bends or in braking zones you get black flagged - but I've never seen the black flag come out once

On my afternoon session there was some piece of s**t blu jap thing - slow as s**t. Came out the chicane onto the oval - he moved right and I shot past, but then when I got to the hairpin at the end of the oval under braking - he booted it past on the inside forcing me right out to the right hand side and nearly off the track. Then I spent a lap stuck to his arse trying to get past as he lagged his way around the infield.

The track part of the show needs managing properly - one year there's gonna be a big accident or someones gonna get smacked..

Other than that the show was ok, trade stands were better but nothing much worth buying. The live action was cool. The top 25 thing was a joke as per usual (body kitted chav R5 winning best performance car LOL!)

The music - wtf are they on, meatloaf? tina turner? and some gobby woman shouting all day
We disconnected our speaker twice and they kept putting it back on lol!!
