MarkCup's Fiesta ST

Tyre tread depths are currently;

2x 2.1mm
2x 2.6mm

I'm seriously impressed with these Bridgestone RE050 tyres...this is after 16,000 miles and one very hot mid-summer Goodwood trackday. I should see 17,000, maybe 17,500 out of a set.

Impressive, can you comment on how they are in the wet being below 3mm? I heard that was their only downfall.

I can't comment really Gally as whilst I do encounter a fair bit of standing water on my commute, it tends to be at 40mph or less.

At that speed, as things currently stand, they're adequate...I wouldn't be too keen to plough through deep puddles at twice that speed though.

Apart from that though they're exceptional. Fantastic grip on track, fantastic wet grip on the roads...but they do not like the cold. Below 5 degrees Celsius they give up half their grip at least...they are a full-on summer only tyre really.

Well I proper want one of these now! My mates had his for nearly three weeks now and he's not cleaned it until today with me.
I told him to wait until I got chance to clean it because he was planning on using sponge, etc etc!

Soon put him right!

I think the colour is fantastic! It's the colour I would have if I got one, that's for sure.
No before pics as I just got stuck in and was showing him my method :)

It looks stunning on both the Fiesta and Focus.

I saw a White Focus ST earlier, did bot work that well at all, lost all the character.

the dealer tried flogging me a white one when I went to buy mine.

i like the estate in white, but it's not a patch on the blue. Black and red look great too. Still yet to see a molten orange fezza though.

that yellow colour is atrocious though!m

that looks awful in green, and without a front plate.

never before has the "fish mouth" been so prominent!

Drove past the dealers where wife is getting hers from and saw her car parked up round the back, delivered today if I interpreted the label stuck on the window correctly ;)

Hopefully she can pick it up this week.

It's lighter. Looks solid colour, possibly like the one used on the Mk6 ZS anniversary.

Saw a molten orange one at Cobham services this morning. Much nicer colour in person, does have some flake in it. Just doesn't photograph well.

@MarkCup, any advice on running in? My ex picked up her new one yesterday and I went out for a quick spin, but she said the dealer hadn't mentioned anything.

She's opted for mountune but not taken it to be done yet as the dealer she purchased from wasn't an approved fitter.

Initial impressions are that it goes bloody well, and the stock exhaust sounds lovely, and the seats are a perfect fit for me (I wouldn't want to be anything over a 36 waist lol, it was cosy for me at 32"). She has opted for metallic black with every option bar nav.

I kept the revs below 5k for a few hundred (not hard as so much torque is available) then as the miles progressed I wound it a little higher with bigger throttle openings.

Main thing for me was/is to keep it varied but don't labour it though. Even though they will happily pull you up a hill in any gear with just 1,500 rpm showing, they're not working at their best. Get 2,000 rpm up before giving it wide open throttle...best bit about that is before your foot hits the floor you're doing 2,500 rpm, the turbo's fully up to speed and the torque peak then catapults you down the road.

F***. F***. F***. F***. F***.

Bridgestone RE050s are nowhere to be found online in the Fiesta's size...stock was showing on Blackcircloes two weeks ago...I should have ordered some then!

Looks like I will have to try something different!

Unless N0ddie can point me in the right direction???

Noob question Mark. Do all STs come with the same stereo regardless of spec (bluetooth connectivity with audio control etc) or is that an optional extra? Because if you spec the sat nav it says you get a sony system with dab. Just confusing me a little that's all.

ST1 - non-Sony unit with voice control and Bluetooth
ST2/3 - Sony DAB unit with voice control and Bluetooth

The sat-nav is, I believe, by default a Sony unit. There are no sound-system upgrades as such other than taking an ST2/3 over the ST1 for the better head unit and additional speakers (8 vs 6 I think), or by speccing the nav.

Those are the extra load (XL) ones if it makes any difference, what are the originals? Looks like they have the normal load ones in as well though :)

Wife picks hers up on Wednesday.

I have Xl tyres on the focus. So sounds about right
