Pns does give great water behaviour, and it seems to last very well too. Don't think there'll be much trouble in it achieving its claimed 6months durability

I'm new to this beading business, what do I use to get the best results, starting with a bit of a blank canvas so to speak? Without paying the earth of course...

Depends how far you want to go tbh mate, a simple coat of wax will make the paint bead quite well but you could polish it for better and longer lasting results.

Something like autoglym hd wax from halfords will do and will last ages, or there is a liquid spray on sealant like gtechniq c2v3 which is very easy to apply after a wash.

There's a huge range of products out there its best to do some research on it if you have the time.

Beading not as tight or tall as normal as it's done a few miles since the clean.

CarPro Finest no top up, no washing. Not bad. Sheeting I'd like nothing else.
