Fiesta out, Impreza in & still not another Clio as yet.....

Well spent some time on the Impreza over the last few weeks.

Got a Cusco rear chassis brace and brackets to fit my RB320 diffuser:

Will chuck some vids out when they are on youtube.

Well haven't updated this for a short while so here goes:

Got some OZ Racing Superleggera's in 18x8" and had them refurbed in anthracite also got new tyres for the 18" alloys - 235/40/18 AD08r's:

untitled_zpsd10af64e.webp

Then started freshening the engine bay up:
- Carbonmods belt cover
- Rallytech bolt kit
- STi accessory oil cap
- FAKE, USELESS CRAP accessory header tank cap
- Perrin battery strap
- Mishimoto radiator brackets
- SCR branded slam panel

untitled-4_zpsf4fd99e9.webp

That crappy header tank cap turned out to be a fake and resulted in this:
DSC_2683_zps703ba6f8.webp

Resulted in over pressure in the coolant system and popped top radiator hose somehow.
Picked car backup yesterday from MB Motorsport after having following work done:
- CDF Racing anti lift kit
- CDF Racing drop links front and rear
- Ultra Racing 23mm front ARB
- Ultra Racing 22mm rear ARB
- Performance Friction 2 piece front discs
- Godspeed grooved rear discs
- DS2500 pads front and rear
- Goodridge phantom stainless brake lines
- Motul RBF brake fluid
- HKS oil filter
- Mobil 10w60 motorsport oil
- Subaru fuel filter
- Wrinkle finish header tank
- Samco radiator hose kit
- New coolant
As always MB Motorsport did the business and car is back to full awesomeness!

Apologies for crap last few pics but these were off my phone.
Monday sees the car go into AK Automotive (Sideways Dan off here) for full alignment then its getting mileage on brakes ready for some abuse.

These also arrived today ready for when I go for more power, RCM unequal stainless headers and venturi up pipe, welds are beautiful on them as well! Also got a new fitting kit, RCM fuel pump, 850cc fuel injectors and am now just deciding what turbo I am getting:

Also got the car is back from alignment at Sideways Dan at AK Automotive - he did a superb job and car is now even better. I wanted a setup mainly for fast road as not planning loads of trackdays just a few each year.

Turn in is superb and even with the AD08r tyres on it doesnt want to kick the arse out as much in the wet as before. Is very predictable as well so gives more confidence.

Quick clean out and interior is back to looking decent again:

Back into MB Motorsport tomorrow for an hour on the ramps getting the handbrake adjusted and to check the ABS rings as get an ABS light quickly blip on over 50mph.

Then Sunday gone was time to put all the mods to the test around Elvington air field, car performed amazingly bar being black flagged for noise level.

Off to AS Performance to get all new gearbox & diff oils and gear selector bushes on Monday then I can enjoy it even more at Elvington in May.

Cheers

Rob

I like them but F me they cost a fortune! Bet them wheels and tyres cost you a bomb! That and diesel powered BMW's are as fast as these nowadsys and get waaaay better mpg.

Nah its called a sensiblehead lol
You can look at it two ways..

Its expensive and a waste of money..

Or think "you know what compared to a supercar this thing makes great financial sense"

As with anything your opinions are shaped by whatever position you are in at the given time. Hence why I own a Clio and not a Megane 275!

Back to the Impreza.....it looks top notch. I van only imagine the performance it offers...

Cheers for the comments - the spoiler on the spoiler stops the top blade wobbling above 120mph. Purely practical - a local lad is designing an under floor full rear diffuser as well as a gurney style flap for under the rear spoiler. Ordered a set of new air ducts for the front that he is having made up at present and hoping to have them for the next trackday.

A diesel BMW???? Really haha. Would never compare them haha. They move through the mid range with the new twin turbo diesel engines but the driving dynamics are worlds apart.

The grip this car has is unbelievable compared to anything else I have driven. Even in the wet giving it the beans it slides very slightly then grips and off you go.

It isn't the cheapest build I have done but love it and that's worth more than anything else to me. Still smiling off the day at Elvington haha.

Cant wait to sort the new turbo and get it to Andy Forrest but need the drivetrain oils changing first.

Sc420 turbo be a good option, my dad has one on his sti 430bhp at 1.5 bar pulls very well compared to the standard turbo all the way to the redline, minimumal lag aswell.
But I'm sure Andy or even alyn at ASP will advise you

The car has just been in for a few more bits at MB Motorsport:
- Gearbox oil
- Diff oil
- AS Performance gear selector bush kit
- Perrin dogbone mount
DSC_0071_zpshtfiozga.webp

Then popped around to Kev's to pick up the new ducts he had made up for me and painted:

Got them fitted on and look superb

SAM_7901_zps99r0xy2n.webp

SAM_7900_zpss3zumq1x.webp

Also got the damper socks on to protect them from the shitty roads:

DSC_0316_zps11c7kjnu.webp

It also sounds like a front CV is on the way out so ordered a pair of front driveshafts to chuck on ready for the track session

Fingers crossed it all goes to plan and is ready

Where do you buy them? Ebay? Shocked I've never seen or heard of tbem before.

Ebay - mine are made by Tegiwa and are only £35 for a set.

Have seen them a few times and thought they would be a great way of protecting my BC coilovers, will see how they do on the next trackday and fingers crossed they don't come off haha

Well how things have changed, the car has gone from being a full time road car to being prepared for racing in sprints.

So covering the last few months, made the car all pretty:

Replaced the crappy DS2500 pads with Pagid RS29 Yellow pads:
DSC_0327_zpsyqgb3zdq.webp

Had another great testing day at Elvington doing around 145 miles around track, my brother also came out for his first trackday in his 182, amazing day and only trackday I have ever done where I didnt get over taken once:

Whilst chasing a faster line through 1 particular corner I got a little to sideways and put 2 wheels on the grass which ended well for the splitter, finished my 20 minute session and ordered a new splitter haha:

Still finished the full day though haha:

Took the car to Croft for a car show and had a crack at 0-60 runs - stage 1 power with full weighted car and a large driver (me ;) ) and got a 4.5 pass on 3 occasions to happy with that.

aircon off and made a shorter belt cover:

This was running near 450bhp on the last engine it was on but I am only planning around 400bhp so should be ideal.

In the next fortnight the car will be off to MB Motorsport for the cage fitting as well as modifying it with a second rear diagonal and harness bars.

Cheers
Rob

Looking good bud, what power ate you running at the moment?

Are you still keeping the top mount IC, I guess running 400 bhp you are?

Will that turbo fit with no problems?
I'm looking at the scooby clinic SC38, maybe the SC40 but I won't be doing anything until next year.

Holy cow, that's the business now!
Not helping my temptation for a Subaru too.

Get one, best thing you will do.

Running 333bhp at present but need slightly more poke for the sprints next year as straight line speed was the only fault I could find.
Will be running top mount and keep an eye on how it goes. Car does have the intercooler spray bar as standard so this will help as well. If it's no good then front mount will go on.
Turbo is a direct fit unit. I wanted the billet SC42 but funds don't allow that so this will do for now but means I won't change the ecu to gain anti lag.

Plans sound good bud, I may look at the SC42 but I don't want to much lag.

I've been told that the SC38 is perfect for a road car, we shall see.

Very little lag with the sc42, just slightly more than the standard turbo but Dosent run out of puff higher in the Rev range

Edit: slightly more lag compared to the uk spec Sti turbo, yours been a spec c will have a different turbo and most likely be a twin scroll

Oh that's nice to know, my Spec C revs to 8k and has the VF34 but it drops off of boost while there's still plenty of revs to go.

SC42 seems to be the one I need. [emoji2]
