As the clio is now over 10 years old renault now no longer need to supply parts so once they are gone in france they are gone.

Ph2 172 Drive shafts are now no longer made / produced and france have no stock so its now second hand or aftermarket units.

Like above if you need something new from renault and can't get it you are going to pay for it.

I've always thought Renault parts were very well priced, so I'm not surprised.

Iv always thought parts are well over priced considering its just a Renault Clio. 0ver £400 for a Ph1 mechanical throttle body, absolute daylight robbery!

As for another price increase. You would think they would be doing the opposite and offloading stock cheap seen as sports are well over the 10 years old thing.

At the beginning of every year Renault have a price overhaul / rethink.

Happens every year without fail - you would think the older the cars get
the cheaper the parts would be.

The older the cars get, the less important they are - from a manufacturers point of view.

Renault aren't obliged to continue supplying 1*2 parts at all, but do so as there is still demand. The quantity of parts they have produced are lower in number, thus unit costs increase.

Agree - little bit more to it than that but your not so far off. Another thing to take into consideration when
speaking to your dealer is the discount code. All parts are given a discount code ranging from 01 to 07.
Now 01 is a 50% mark up on dealer cost - Eg - a new headlight may retail at £100 + vat .......The dealer
will pay £50 + vat for this ( cost minus 50% ) So in theory he has £50 to play with. Bodyshops / insurance
companies get big discounts on parts ( up to 40 - 45% on headlights )

Clio cup 172 ( CB1N ) O/S/F Headlamp - 7701051770 ( disc 01 ) retail £74.20 + vat
The dealer pays £37.10 + vat stock rate

02 - 45%
03 - 40%
04 - 35%
05 - 30%
06 - 25%
07 - 20%

Its always worth checking out part numbers and prices / discount codes before walking
into your local parts dept. If the dealer VOR's the part the discount code is reduced ( over
night delivery ) but with stock orders direct from NPDC they will get full whack so they have
a few quid to play with. A good salesman will always haggle to get a sale.

Its Funny how Renault parts / Prices are cheaper in Eastern Europe.
