Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

  mk1 Octavia VRS
eBay 20% deal on tyres etc. Looking at getting the rsr at £216 delivered

Good shout, I just bought a set of AD08Rs (£231). I was tempted to try something else but the AD08Rs have more tread depth than the RSRs and I've been impressed with the current set which are almost down to the markers now.

I haven't tried the RSRs. Currently got AD08Rs and before that had AD08s (on my OZ F1s when I bought them). The current set have lasted ~2 years and have done a Nurburgring trip and quite a number of trackdays. In the wet I've also found them surprisingly grippy and predictable.

I linked that in general section mate. Tried 23 times and doesn't work. Rang them and there is no code sir but please keep an eye out in the future. Ok then. Asked if he would contribute the £50 saving. Line went quiet, we then said are mutual goodbyes

Been on ad08's for 2 years and can't see me swapping yet.

Was in the car with my mate at Anglesey with worn R888 and part worn AD08's and we couldn't tell the difference in grip tbh. He was just as fast on the AD08's.

Just been watching fast and the furious, the gear shifts definatly make their cars go faster lol.

I was really surprised with the RE050. A pair came with my 172 and the previous owner rated them, similar results to the PS3. I used them on the front for my first Autosolo in the car at a very wet Smeatharpe and won the event overall! They worked well in the wet. I then used them at an Autosolo at Kemble where it was a little muddy and they seemed to have lost their competitiveness, but that may have been due to deranged front suspension settings. I'll give them another try on an event, but not one where I need to win - I'm limited to List 1A so Michelin PS3 in 15" is the tyre of choice.

I did a Sprint a month ago at Hullavington where I could use B tyres. I'd picked up a pair of 595 and put them on the back. Felt very similar to PS3 on the rear, but I probably didn't have enough heat in them. Some NS-2R soft on their way to go on the rear with the 595 on the front for Sprints. Shame I can't use my A048 any more, they're on list 1C this year.

I'm currently running 205/15/50's RSR which are slowly coming to the end of their life, I only went with 205's due to them coming up cheap on here however my next purchase will be AD08R's but unsure if I should go with 205's or 195's, other than my current tyres looking abit like donuts they seem fine, but I haven't driven this particular 182 with 195's to compare. AD08R's are around £10 cheaper a corner in 195's but for the sake for £40ish ill go with either if there is actually a decent benefit from using the 205's. Searching around there seems to be mixed opinions on the subject tbh.

By my experience its all to do with which brand of tire you use as NanKang NS2R & Yokohama AD08R both have very thick sidewalls and seem to be alot more chunkier then other makes of tire even with the 195/50/15 fitment.I had the problem before when I used 225/45/17 Vredestein ultrac sessanta would fit my wife's Impreza but when she purchased the same size tire but the Nankang NS2R they would rub like crazy,so she purchased some 215/45/17 Nankang NS2R they were fine.SJ.
