Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

Yes, light rain they were fine but once it was raining hard and water was beginning to stand on the roads I was starting to slide round the corners, all be it they were B roads but I wasn't pushing on, also Aqua plained big time on an A road in a straight line made the car jump onto the other side of the road luckely there was no other traffic about!

I came back from Sheffield in monsoon conditions & they seemed fine to me?
They are shocking for the first hundred miles or so then they dial in.

What's the Dunlop Direzza (think they say OG3 on the sidewall) like seen some part worns with about 3mm on pretty cheap and I get free fitting so don't have too worry about getting them fitted and having too pay extra.

They don't say DZ before the 03G on the tyre wall will have to find out. But they look exactly the same as the ones that are in the for sale section think big ash was selling them. And someone else had a set on some wolfrace wheels.

What size, 195's?. £100 would be a nice price. I'd be interested if there was any sets going stu

@StuOwen86 if you have already bought them mate I will stand by me having a set. But don't worry too much about me. I bought the rsrs to use on and off track really. Haven't used them once on track yet, lol

Have you said you will take all of them? I'm not that fussed mate but will stand by what I said, If there's an issue.

No mate not said I'll have any yet wanted too see how much he said first might just get a set myself and try them. Kill my AD08 chasing you lot on the 20th and replace them with the Dunlop.

Or fit the Direzzas and watch "them lot" kill their tyres trying to chase you :tongueout:

Generally regarded as the fastest dry track day tyre give or take. On a more serious note, if you do buy them bear in mind they've clearly been used in competition and are half worn etc.

Is there anything in particular too watch out for with used tyres? Does the amount of heat cycles matter? Was going too check even wear and make sure they're not too worn on the edges etc. Are they worth a try £120 for part worns I know they are about that each new. @Steven103

Used near new rsr's at Oulton today and was mega impressed. Not the outright grip of say the 888's I tried but seem to last longer doing stints. Got them all sat at 30 hot.

Used my NS-2Rs on the front at a partially wet trackday yesterday, in the dry grip levels of my 180 compound tyres are on a par with RS-Rs but I much preferred them, more feel and certainly wear better, I think the stiffer sidewall helps a lot. The RS-Rs showed shoulder wear very quickly, I'd buy again, but have 6 888s to try when I kill these!
I'm still using the original RS-Rs on the rear which are wearing extremely well with no plans to change them.

Good stuff. Don't forget to write a step by step guide for dummies, I will be needing that, lol

Tried out the NS2R on my Megane. I'm running the 120 track compound and so far so good, they wear well and are progressive when they start to go off. They don't suffer from shoulder wear like the RSR.

should be able to have some more feedback regarding the federal RSR tomorrow - on a track day at anglesey tomorrow and its given warm temp with drizzle and rain so I will run some different pressures and see how we get on.. I also run 888 so we shall see.

An update for anyone interested, I had been using RS-Rs (140) and changed to NS-2R (180) two track days ago.
I had been generally happy with the federals apart from what I found to be soft sidewalls, Shoulder wear when pushing hard but good grip. Two track days ago I swapped to Nankangs, it was wet and they were epic, so much confidence they allowed me to stay on track when others pulled in, then on Sunday it was a scorcher..... I ran them at 27psi cold and had a great feeling all day, a bit squeally if that's even a word but they felt fantastic with no odd wear, my lap times were down on what I had been doing though which I found odd, I had ASTs fitted this time too!
888s next time out :fearscream:
