Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

I’m after some guidance on suggested products based on your own experience.

I have bought an entry level dual action polisher Clicky

I have an old 306 with flat white paint - it’s not clear coated.

What pads and product would people recommend to bring some shine back?

I have some Autoglym Super Resin Polish and some Extra Gloss Protection kicking about. Would this be any good with a machine?

Sounds like a good plan. What I would do is whilst claying use snowfoam to lubricate the car so foam a few panels then clay whilst soapy. But yes ,wash after claying .

King of gloss is incredible for value , I think it's £20 for a big tin. If you have the money get fusso light or fusso dark too . Fusso by soft99 lasts absolutely ages. My go to on my daily car is fusso, then after the next wash a week later king of gloss on top.

King of gloss is great though, nice and easy to use . Remember not to apply it thick!
Thanks for this advice mate I'll give it a go soon!

Just a quickie, my general routine maintenance wash I tend to finish with Sonax BSD (quick detailer type)

Would I still be able to use this after applying KOG or is there no point?

It's been 3 years since I applied CarPro Essence/CQUK/Reload to my golf.

I'm a bit out of touch now - what's popular in semi-permanent coatings these days?

I need a quick and easy sealant for wifes car. I wash it monthly( if that) and hydro2 isn't durable enough for that.

I was thinking Carpro reload but a YouTube video put me off due to longevity.

Shortlist.

Fusso
Britemax remax
Reload
C2v3

Also need a good wheel cleaner I can spray one and jetwash off.

C2v3 lasts longer than Reload imo. It’s also layers up really well.

I use Meguiars wheel brightener which I find is alright. It’s definitely better than Bilberry. However, I’ve yet to find a non acidic wheel cleaner that gets wheels completely clean without a good scrub with wheel brushes.

Id pick Fusso, Big tin for £21. easy on and off. It is the longest lasting wax/sealant. Great reviews. If you go for it, buy the original V1 version.

I use Fusso for winter, it lasts until spring.

Can you post a link please? There are a few different versions from a quick Google.

I haven’t cared about cleaning cars for the last two years or so.. what’s the best snow foam these days? Every one ive used as never actually got rid of any dirt, even when the car is properly filthy.. but then ive seen some videos where it’s done a half decent job prior to a hand wash.

People rave about Bilt Ham auto foam.

I used this and it smells like Iron Bru and works really well.

ValetPro combo 2 is the most effective I’ve used.
Or just add some APC to the mix.

I really rate the AG snowfoam. Great smell. Seems to do a really good job of loosening. Cant comment too much in cleaning power as I've never tested that specifically (and my car is never really that filthy)

I got a bottle of auto finesse avalanche the other week and it's done a much better job of dissolving the annoying yellow blobs that keep appearing on our cars. Signature candy apple snow foam I used before did nothing.

Anyone used CarPro Elixr. It's a tar and fallout remover in one. Used 2/3 of a bottle on my dads car today and was quite disappointed by the results. So much tar that wasnt even touched. Anyone got any experience with it?

Would anyone be Interested in a microfiber group buy? Either drying towels or general microfibres. Or possibly a bundle?

In2detailing said they can offer us a deal if we get at least 10 people.

The Korean towels are really good and I think most manufacturers use the same factory in the far east.

How/when do you lot clean the sideskirts and rims of arches? It’s the very last thing I do, but just seems a pain in the ass.

At the very end (after I’ve washed the front and rear bumper) as it’s where you’ll find the majority of crud.
