I remember a few nights of him crying where we just looked at each other not knowing what to do! It was horrible.

I found bouncing up and down on an exercise ball with him helped quite a lot. Have you tried a baby carrier for when you need to get stuff done?

Is she suffering from Reflux, or perhaps Colic? My first had Colic, second had Reflux - we used the specialist formulas for both (Aptamil) and that helped. We changed their bottles to MAM as well, which let air escape from the base, reducing the risk of wind.

A little trick for the breathless screaming - blow gently on her face, it’ll stop that straight away ? (seriously!)

The blowing definitely snaps her out of it for a few seconds, and then I have to do it again.

Since we’ve had the infacol on the go and let it get working she’s been fine so fingers crossed.

Have a baby carrier, which we have used when out and about. She’s just still a little slumped in it due to her size and not holding herself up yet but we will be using it if it makes things easier. We’ve also set up her cot for daytime naps to try get her used to being on her own, but of instinct tells her she needs to be near us then I doubt it will work but we can try!!

It’s worth persevering with the cot. My son was sleeping in his cot overnight and during naps from about 4 weeks old ?

Dilemma, our second is due in September so we need a new monitor. We have a BT 6000 and it’s ace but our first will still need to use this for a while, but we can’t buy another (without paying over the odds) as they’ve been discontinued. What monitors are people using?

We’ve got a BT 6000 too, great bit of kit except battery life on the main unit. You can still get them online and even get 2nd hand ones on eBay and you can hook up an additional camera to the main unit and toggle between the two..

I’m under the impression you can add a second and have seen some reviews online to say that is the case. Although you can only toggle between them individually and not watch both at once.

I’m tempted to get a second hand unit on eBay and try it.

Having had the BT 6000 since our little girl was born, can genuinely say it’s been great. Wide screen unit, auto switches to night mode when it’s pitch black. Tilt and zoom function which is helpful, as well as a talk function so you can speak to the other half if they’re upstairs for example (like a walkie talkie basically)

Based on advice from John Lewis and glad we went with it. We found it’s a bit of a minefield choosing a monitor if you don’t know what you’re talking about as there’s so many.

But the BT ones seem to tick most boxes!

my daughter is now 7 years old and we are still using our 7 year old Motorola MPb36 or something like that, for our third child who is 8 months old.

its probably very dated now being 7 years old, but is still working faultlessly

I have this monitor for my twins and can confirm you can add additional cameras.

I actually ended up selling the second camera though as it was much more convenient for me to ceiling mount the one camera and PTZ between the two cots. Otherwise you have to navigate through the slightly faffy menus on the device and manually connect to the other camera.

He only seems to be going once every other day but we can tell he’s really uncomfortable on poo day until he’s pushed it out. We’re formula feeding so we’ve reached out to the Health Care visitor to see what she suggests, probably tell us to try a different milk formula.

defo try a different milk. We had the same with ours and a change of milk it made an instant change. I would say try prunes but too young at 4 weeks LOL (but that does work too.)

The other trick we did was when we could see her really straining but having no joy a damp bit of tissue paper to try and tickle her behind seemed to help too as weird as it sounds. We did the tummy circular motions too.

But the best advice is the milk.

Definitely look at changing the milk.

As Seb said, 4 weeks is probably too young for Prune juice.

One trick we used was a small amount of sugary water, that really helped our son.

In the end we were prescribed laxative for both our kids - the downside to bottle feeding kids is definitely the risk of constipation

Our daughter would go days without a s**t, so we put her on Nutramigen, it did the job.

Both ours were fed on Aptamil. We tried SMA with our second, but she didn’t like it. We used the thicker, anti-colic formula so constipation was a constant problem for us.

Used to be handy for middle of the night changes, thankfully at almost 4 months now he'll go from changing him in his sleep about 11 through to 7ish in the morning now.

Best thing out of all the stuff we bought was the formula prep machine, more so no whe's solely on formula for various reasons. Been a life saver and makes things very quick and easy.

Also loves sitting in his bouncer and flinging his legs around.

Most of the top specs are £1k. We went for the Uppababy ‘Vista’ on their advice and it’s been brilliant. So easy to use and collapse etc, very “bloke” friendly. And if we divide the cost over 2 or 3 children (currently on 2 😂) then it doesn’t represent bad value IMO.

if you opt for a cheap pram system, you’ll regret it, like most things in life, buy cheap, buy twice...

Depends on what you deem cheep IMO. I don't think you need to spend £1200 or so on a pram personally but I'm a tight arse. We're on our second (and last) child now and we're using this set again. We went for a neutral pattern to future proof though.

I think we spent sub £500 for our pram/ car seat combo and that included the isofix base. The wife spent months reading reviews of all price ranges and these had a good review, and is a piece of piss to collapse etc.

The Cosato range is definitely worth a look.
