RS200 Factory Cup Insurance

  RS200 Factory Cup
Hi everyone, I'm soon to be the proud owner of an '11 reg RS200 Factory Cup. Apologies if I've missed a recent thread but I couldn't find any recent discussions re. best insurers! I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations? The car has a K&N air filter installed along with lowering springs to 30mm. Unfortunately this is the first car I've bought in 15 years so I have no NCB. Also have an SP30 on my licence (34 in a 30 ). Spoke with Adrian Flux this morning and they quoted £1400... which is A LOT higher than I was expecting. Found Keith Michaels online which may be worth checking out. Anyone use them? Best quote I've seen so far is £837 with eSure. I'm mainly wondering whether or not I just need to bite the bullet and accept I may appear higher risk to insurers, and begin building up my NCB or keep shopping around. Thank you in advance!

What's a factory cup?

See below... the models which aren't 'cup packed'. Came like this straight out of the factory.

No bother at all lol, they’re all Clio’s! My first 200 was a “true” CUP. My current (11 plate too) is a full day (cup packs). Both great cars! You’ll love it
Thanks mate. Went to see the one pictured^ yesterday and fell in love immediately.

I went through Sky Insurance when I got my RS182 earlier this year, they quoted me just over £400 compared to the almost £900 that Adrian Flux wanted. They gave me named driver discount as I didn't have any no claims bonus but had been driving claim free for the last 9 years, and I think they give a discount for being a Cliosport forum member but I'd already bought the policy when I noticed that. Also quite impressed that my recent speeding ticket (in my girlfriend's VERY slow car) won't affect my premium until renewal time. So far I'm very impressed with them.

Put it back to standard a run a quote on confused, com
Hi, I ran a quote with them without including the mods at first and the price was quite a bit cheaper by £200 or so. I could put it back to standard... thinking the parts and labour would cost more though overall? May as well pay the extra plus it looks so much better lowered a bit. Not too sure if the K&N makes too much difference when not on track.

Thanks for the info Steve, will check Sky out. Sounds like I'm in a similar situation... I have NCB as a named driver for approx 5 years. I also got done in my girlfriend's slow car... a bloody Fiat 500 :ROFLMAO:

Whip the filter out and have a look, if it's just a K&N panel filter I wouldn't even bother declaring it. Peel the stickers off if you're particularly worried but a panel filter is hardly a performance upgrade 😂

I haven't physically got the car yet, but will take a look as soon as. Haha yep that's what I thought, thanks for the advice.

I had the same problem having not owned a car in my own name for years so no NCB Go compare .com came up with ludicrous quotes ranging in excess of £2700. In the end I visited my high street broker who got me fully comp for £380 and on monthly payments Will gladly provide contact details if you pm me

He has you were miles out! Says in first post .

I remember the days when you used to be competitive 🤣
I was with Adrian Flux for over 20 years up until last year when their quote was way off the mark compared to confused / Hastings Premier. 🤔
