After checking the car over it made me realise that it needs work, however, I have contemplated getting a Z4 for a track car for the last month or so. Mainly because RWD and more power, but the amount of money it'd take to get a nice one, then make it right would be more work than just sorting the clios bits
Plus I don't want to part ways with the car
So the plan will be get the welding done, put together an engine, maybe a full cage and the roof scoop fitting. Then it'll want a few other bits tidying up whilst them bits are underway
So with any hope nothing goes horribly wrong between now and then and I don't have to shell out for something big
So just use this one whilst he builds a new one from scratch? Your man maths is elite Tom.Might save you a fair amount of you can find a shell that doesn't need welding, has a full cage and a roof scoop already fitted.
Depending on the cage you'll have to have all the dash out then cut it to fit.
If you want an engine then you'll have to take it out anyway so it makes a reshell make more sense with everything you want to do.

Just spitballing but how hards a rwd conversion? Youd still have a Clio but a completely different driving experience.
Sierra 4x4 floor pan, maybe a VAG lump in there with the AWD box converted to RWD only. Probably get a VR6 in there. While you’re on you might as well turbo and supercharge it. Absolute doddle.
By different driving experience you mean absolutely awful?
Buying Toms shell and reshelling the car again sounded like a good idea at first. But the more I thought about it the more I couldn't be fucked, I was balls deep in the house renovation, work and I had 5 cars at the time with only 1 working. Buying another huge project wasn't on the cards
#TimeWaster
I was thinking more like body dropping on an MX5 chassis.
Tbf I did say different not particularly better.
I dislike how short your list is.CSF Prep
- Get new tyres fitted to my wheels
- Set up PMS shifter to get 2nd gear perfect
- Bleed brakes
- New front pads - DS1.11
- New rear pads - PBS
- Clean car
- Load trailer
Yeah but line item 2 is about 5 hours of fiddling by yours truly.I dislike how short your list is.
But im happy for you (im not)

Then 2 minutes adjusting the shifter

I was thinking about youwhilst i cranked my hogearlier actually.
Im tempted to fit the new shifter to the Howdi before CSF. But I also have to drive it 5 hours to get there, so I was concerned about it rattling its tits off the whole way. But then I remembered the whole car is loud. Then I was thinking about how im going to do the haldex service. Then I thought to myself, what is 4wd really. Then that led to me thinking about how much grip a cow makes. Then I got hungry thinking about delicious cows. Then milkshake, cooorr I love milkshake. But I also love beef jerky and thats made by cows. Cows are pretty great tbh. But they also trample people, thats not so great.
Anyway. SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!
There's still meat on them, a slit down the middle with the grinder and they'll be good for another dayGot your moneys worth out of those pads!
Have you tried CL rc5+ for a comparison to ds1.11’s?? Wanna know if they’re worth the extra cost?Had a spare hour last night so took the time to swap the pads
The old DS1.11 out. They did start to feel a bit s**t at Donington, no wonder. Hard braking zones and minimal pad left which made them go off quick and feel wooden the harder I pushed

New DSUNO in

Swapped the PBS ProRace on the rear to a new set of PBS ProTrack. A bit of a downgrade but the old ones are like 5 years old now

Drivers side back together

Got all the passenger side buttoned up. Upon putting the spring retainers in for the pads I noticed they felt a bit 'slack'. They're newer than the ones I had in there, but the tension on them wasn't great. They look like they're just cheap shite ones. Didn't feel comfortable so I swapped them for the ones I had in before which are genuine Renault ones

So I swapped the drivers side ones back to the original ones too
I had the RC6 in my old calipers and they were really good. The only issue is that they absolutely ruined my wheels!Have you tried CL rc5+ for a comparison to ds1.11’s?? Wanna know if they’re worth the extra cost?
I wonder if both of my carriers are the same sidedProb doesnt matter but iirc rear pad retainer usually in bottom mate, just incase as they are bad for letting a pad depart. Them springs are s**t defo reuse oem. I hate these rear caliper design tbh, gtt/saxo ran it and they have always been dogshit.

The slither of metal needs to be on the shorter step down in the carrier so they're in the right way. But I wonder if it's been swapped out at some point
